To do this find the exe file in its folder or you can use the shortcut in the start folder. Right click on it, select properties and click the compatibility tab at the top, select "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select 98/me from the drop down menu, Click apply. I tested it for over an hour and got no more crashes.
