<sigh> Strikeout, it failed, (not a coaster, but a bad write) back to CDBurnerXP...

For me, it's Perfection or The Purge. Looks like CDBXP is still in the lead- at least it supports the Asus buffer underrun protection well.

only done one burn so far, but worked fine. I'll give cdburnerxp a rest and see how ashampoo works in the long run.

Ashampoo 6.6's interface and operation are going to take some puzzling out (maybe I should add this to my post-starburn saga?) but it appears to work well, which is the whole point.
