Just to be fair about Notables, the developer has been working with me on this and is a very nice person. He thinks it may be EXEcrypto trialware protection but isn't sure. The key does cause grief however , at least for me. Anyway, he is looking into it to figure out why this key is there and why it's not functioning correctly.

It is from Notables! But the ID (at comicfan2000 A1B7CFF-4-9466-5D5B-B672-A9AE93848013) depends on the hardware (I think). You can delete this key by using this software: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/regdelnull.mspx

Are you sure it's from Noteables? I don't have that key at all and I have Noteables installed.

Well as upon running a rootkit detector after having issues with choppy pc, games not installing or much else. It seems this little KEY from Notables is the cause...

HKU\S-1-5-21-164552239-1844237615-725345543-1003\Software\Mi crosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved\{A1B7CFF-4-9466-5D5B-B672-A9AE93848013}* 1\9\2007 4:45 AM 0...Key name contains embedded nulls {*}

IT is preventing RKR from saving log files, regdelnull from deleting, and has hidden non access to it's folder. With the ROOTKIT definitions still being put in place, this is coming close. It is one of a few things...a very bad program where the registry is botched, a registration key for the trial but still botching my pc, OR a sort of ROOTKIT.

That said, I could see the 0 key name perhaps or the embedded nulls, however this highly depends on WHAT this key does. I could even see not deleting it from regedit, protected folders\keys . The function of this key is almost important as the why it's screwing up my system or there at all.

Scenario, I began not being able to install some giveaway games, register other software, my pc was becoming choppy in the last week only. I always keep my pc up to spec and was noticing a decline in performance and internet speeds along with installs. Finally accepting the fact it was not spyware\malware or virus etc... I went for the rootkit detection. This is what I found and worked all night on it. Through sysinternals forum and much help from one of the members, we got the key deleted and my pc ran Excellent again. No more freeze ups and guess what, I could now save the log file for RKR AND install the uninstallable games, albeit too late as they are now trials but downloaded them just to see if they would run. They did. My suspicion came into play when regdelnull would not delete the key, this surprised many as it deletes just about any key\rootkit. So what on green earth are they doing putting something like this in the software?

I am not saying positively it's a rootkit you understand but even if not, this needs fixing.

Regardless if GAOTHD knew about this, if Notables knew this, or if the Pope knew this, I am not and will no longer be downloading from GAOTHD. BTW, uninstall any download, back up the registry, you still won't get it to go off trial. This is not freeware. I uninstalled notables for troubleshooting and never got it back, even WITH registry backing, it deletes the key and replaces with new one< huh, big surprise. TRIALWARE. I gave this place a chance and got accused of not knowing how to install the games, etc...when it was a supposed good file from here that mucked my system to begin with. No more trust. I suggest watching what you download.
