BuBBy,

     Your criticism is fair. However, our target customer base is business and government. If a home user gains utility from the software in a Windows workgroup environment, then that's a bonus for everyone.

Bigun,

      UltraAdmin is a standalone tool. We do offer a full suite of log management software, but UltraAdmin is a separate product.

      Your second interpretation is correct. All other products are 30-day fully-functioning trials that can be purchased. UltraAdmin is provided without cost to any user.

@DorianSoftware

Is UltraAdmin one module in a suite of security modules and/or is it a stand alone product?

I interpret the information on your website to say that "UltaAdmin" is a product without cost to the user and your other products are being offered on a 30-day trial bases. Is this correct?

Actually, our software can manage workgroups in addition to Windows domains. So it can be used effectively for more elaborate home networks, too.

If that is the case, may I suggest a separate link from the UltraAdmin page to a page specifically aimed at the average home user who may have a small network (or even a complex one) explaining how the UltraAdmin could be best used appropriately for their needs. Obviously a home user will have different requirements and technologies used in their network - and their skills and training may be different.

You are probably having many users just bypass your product because they see the existing page and believe (incorrectly?) that this product isn't aimed at them.

Expecting them to download UltraAdmin and just work with it till they can discover how to punch this apparently "square peg" into their "round hole" home network is unlikely to happen when the product description is clearly aimed at managing a larger corporate network setup that they don't have.

Having a "UltraAdmin for home networks" page - might give the product some relevance, and encourage users browsing your site to "give it a shot", instead of a 15 second read and "it's not for me" response.

Our webmaster will be clarifying things shortly - we apologize for any confusion.

Good idea. Having a clear message - and making your product relevant to your target users will hopefully see better results. :)

Khai, I think I see where you got confused. A couple areas of our website still reference a 30 day trial, which is what UltraAdmin used to be. Version 6 now has no time limit. Our webmaster will be clarifying things shortly - we apologize for any confusion.

Khai - it's not a free trial for 30 days. It is fully functional beyond 30 days. You can continue to use it indefinitely.

Thanks for posting the link anyway.

It is for Administering a network that uses a Domain or Active Directory. Most home users will be running workgroups, but you never know someone might have a domain set up to play with. (and it doesn't cost anything to tell others about a freebie you have found, so why not?)

I know nothing about Windows networking and do not plan to download and review this software. However, when I saw that it is free, I thought about people on home networks who might want something a little more robust than what Microsoft offers for its home users. I am assuming that this programme offers the capability for more direct access to networking services and provides more detailed reports than are offered in the standard home user version of Windows. I am also assuming that this is not intended for the casual user. There is nothing on this web page to indicate that "networking" does not also refer to home networks. It came to my attention via Alex Eckelberry's Sunbelt security blog.
