How appropriate as we are having an Astronomy week here in the UK. I have our Telescope out ready to look at Jupiter and Mars, both of which are out at the moment. Apparently the International Station will pass overhead in the morning so I'm getting up early to see it.

Fabulous image. Who can't be impresse with such images. Awe inspiring.

We make images in our minds that have nothing to do w reality.

Despite that, I still have this strange image in my head of that Runes "supposedly" Magic (Ahemmm) or so he says..., w a purple cape and a bunch of guns on his rather imposing midriff... Bwahawaha

Hey, I might just subscribe to this. I've got a picture of my kids up Teide which was the last decent holiday I had before my accident in 2005. Knowing that the observatory is on Teide will reinforce the experience for them as they can say they went almost to the top of the volcano. Unfortunately you have to get special permission to go to the very top now due to tourist erosion. Here’s an image of them enjoying the snow very near the top after catching a cable car, (they were later told off by a local after throwing snowball at each other...go figure lol; that was definitely a novelty in Tenerife as down at sea level it was around 30 degrees that particular day. It's a scanned copy of a paper print that's been exposed to light for nearly 2 years so the oomph has faded out of the image. I can't find the original file easily. The paek was about 150 meters away.

Unfortunately I've not been able to take them exploring since then apart from a family visit to Poland and a holiday to turkey this year where I spent most of the time in the hotel room as the heat was too much for me and trying to explore was impossible. At least Michelle my wife took them to see some of the historical stuff which was near impossible for me as you couldn't get the wheelchair up some of the mountains etc. I just watched loads of DVD's on out portable DVD player and sat in front of the air conditioning outlet when the temperatures soared to around 45 degrees. I did go to one of those mud baths, but watched my kids enjoying themselves, and had a nice leisurely drift on one of the deltaic rivers near to where we were staying which took us to a place they called turtle beach, though I only ever saw one turtle in the water. The beach was probably too noisy with all the ‘humans’ inhabiting it, lol.

Anyway, I’ve waffled on as usual. Thanks again for the links.
