Everyone has a POV, and it seems the younger and more idealistic they are, the more convinced they are that their POV is the "right" one. Moderated forums do need to constantly be on the lookout for brush fires. There are different techniques to quench them, including just letting them burn out on their own. I've launched and moderated a few, not nearly to the extent Delenn's done. The healthiest and most civil forums enforce a TOS, but also maintain a tight rein on membership. There really are no controls on posts or posters here save for the dreaded BubbyCo Purge. There's no invited members program to access a restricted forum (not that I'm suggesting or even hoping those things be implemented), but also no way to rate member posts.
