Oh my, you are a tv wunderkind... I wouldn't know a wb from a wheldon. Nice to see we agree on some. I rarely cross paths with a female who likes the stuff I do.

Farscape - watched from the beginning to where the walking cadaver guy in the catwoman latex outfit started torturing the lead (I'm not good with names, the guy who made a lousy replacement for Dean Richard on StarGate... the guy who can't decide if he has an american or british accent) I think that was at least 1 season's worth.

Lost - only watched the first few episodes of season 1. Although I was badly mistaken, I smelled another disappointing cancellation in the offing, like the idiot stunt broadcasters pulled with Millenium and (what the heck was the fiction series where a kid found a young sentient water being and kept it in his bathtub and then the family pool before it went off to drill holes in the ocean floor with its kin? I thought that was an interesting concept.) OTOH, they did cancel that awful Threshold, so they sometimes get it right.

Only watched 1 episode of Supernatural. Am rapidly tiring of shows that need to save someone in every 48-minute episode. Moonlight's already lost me. Numb3rs is hanging on by a thread. OTOH, HOUSE is a MWEDNWinter, with NCIS and Bones rounding out the list of MWEDNW. Two and Half Men jumped the shark. Their script's deteriorated into the kind of dialogue I used to hear at the FOP lodge. :-(

Well, you enjoy your tape of Lost. Glad to see the art of timeshifting is practiced in the SW. I've got to grab a few winks before the market opens. This has been fun, Funky. Did we hijack FwF's thread or what! :-)

Farscape pretty far down... bad costumes, puppets and weak scripts made me think of Buck Rogers.
come on! yeah the puppets take some getting used to, but farscape had such great dialogue and the cast had amazing chemistry! how much of a chance did you give it?
i take it back-you are a dirty old man! ;)

mwednw for me include- x-files, farscape, buffy, seinfeld, and currently lost (nobody say a word, i taped tonights episode and haven't watched yet). i'm sure that there are a few more, but that well-spent youth of mine is at it again.

i'm, also pretty into supernatural (which is now on against lost!), but i might not watch during a nuclear war. i have to stress the word might. although, there is that lack of good sci-fi out there and i'd probably prefer those winchester boys to a few bombs being dropped.

I am more of a couchpotato than I should admit, even creating a custom rating system that ranges from Must Watch Even During Nuclear War (very few score that high) to Would Rather Get a Root Canal (most reality shows, presidential debates, televangelists).

X-Files got the MWEDNW (as did Cheers and Seinfeld in the comedy division), StarGate ranks pretty high, StarGate Atlantis a little lower, Farscape pretty far down... bad costumes, puppets and weak scripts made me think of Buck Rogers. If I'm going to keep up with a series, the cast has to have great chemistry and they need interesting scripts. So, what do you rate MWEDNW and WRGRC?

One thing I liked about Buffy was that (I think) the creators were the first to highlight the music and artist for each show.

there just isn't enough good sci-fi on tv.

what did you think of farscape? imo one of the best shows ever, of any genre.
and btw, i'm also a big x-files fan.

Funky, I didn't enjoy the Angel series all that much, but for some reason (dirty old man, probably) I found the Buffy series somewhat appealing. Thanks for the link, though. That was nice and considerate! Sadly, the video is "unavailable at present". I'll keep it in my GAOTD "recommended by Funky" folder... if I can find it in all this mess.

FWIW, I'm having a blast with Netflix' latest feature, the Instant Downloads. Not only movies but complete television series. I thought paying $1 per movie was a good deal last year, but now they've dropped the price and added unlimited online viewing. Helps fill in the blank spots during the Writer's strike, but I'm not sure who'll cut the grass this summer. :-)

Jeez, I was posting 14 hrs ago. This day just won't die!

Hi K8, great to hear you finally "get" me. I needed a hug. For some, my sense of humor presents a lifetime impediment to good communication. So, without further ado, Welcome to Rune's World! where you have to be at least 21, but there are no entry fees or height restrictions. We do ask that you bring your own Dramamine... and watch that first step, cause it's a doozy. :-)

Anyone else see a similarity between a shark and holding a conch shell up to one's ear? The whooshing sound.

Graylox, when it comes to feeding paranoia, nothing beats the X-Files, except maybe the US electoral process.

First impressions lead me to believe this one isn't for me.

==========================
To use Microsoft Office Live, your computer must meet one of the following requirements:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or later, running on Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows Server 2003. You can download the latest version of Internet Explorer from the Windows Internet Explorer page.
==========================
The previous webpage might require the following add-on: 'Authzax.dll' from 'Microsoft Corporation'. Click here to allow it to run...
==========================
A valid credit card is required; however your credit card will not be charged when you open your account.
Read about how this helps to protect our customers.
==========================
Why do you need my credit card for a free subscription?

Even though Microsoft Office Live Basics is a free service and Microsoft Office Live Collaboration is free during the beta period, we still require a credit card in order to validate that every customer is a legitimate entity. We are concerned for two reasons:

Microsoft wants to help mitigate fraud and strives to ensure that the Web sites we provide for our small business customers are for valid purposes. Requiring a valid credit card is intended to decrease the likelihood that malicious users will sign up.

We also require a credit card to facilitate payment of additional services (e.g., the purchase of additional domain names or extra storage) as well as at the conclusion of the Microsoft Office Live Collaboration Beta period, when customers will be asked if they would like to continue using our services on a paid, monthly subscription basis. With your explicit permission, we can establish monthly billing using your credit card information. You will be able to continue using our services without interruption and without having to submit additional account information.

When you sign up for a Microsoft Office Live account, Microsoft performs a $1 authorization check on your credit card to verify that the card information you are using is valid and up to date. A temporary $1 charge may appear on your online credit card statement for a short period, but will not appear on your final billing statement for that period.
==========================

I guess this isn't the simple "take a look and see if this is for you" type of Microsoft promotion.

*sigh* I remember the days when Microsoft used to actually give away things for free... Like MS-DOS for example. ;) (all in the name of gaining market share)

Yeah, I know, not many people like MS products and services, but I thought I'd let you all decide about this one. If you're looking for a service like this, free isn't a bad price.... :-)

Microsoft is offering a free account to their Microsoft Office Live Basics. This service includes one free domain name, 500MB storage, 10GB/month transfer, 25 email accounts, daily backups, and more. Free domain name and Web hosting, Easy-to-use Web site design tools, 500 MB of Web site storage space, 25 company-branded e-mail accounts, Web site reports, Search advertising tool with $50 credit, and more.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officelive/FX101465131033.aspx?xid=69425d83-1923-438f-88ed-2ce17cd58b23

If you need this, you'll use it. Otherwise, let the MS bashing begin... :-)
