Morning, RM. Thanks for pointing me towards Combine.exe! I was there at the site, and didn't even look on that freeware page.. can you believe it? Me not looking at a freeware page! But, let's just keep this between the two of us, OK? I wouldn't want word of this getting out, might tarnish my stellar rep on this forum, eh? LOL

Anyways, it seems that Combine.exe works out very well for use with Directory Opus. Seeing as how it's a command line app, I can set up a button for it, then all I have to do is to select the files I want to combine, click on my custom button, and it works like a charm.

Many thanks!! :-)

Yo, FwF!!!

I tell ya, my mind's slipping. Remember the other day when I suggested you might want to try some sort of command line interface to merge those text files you needed to merge onto as few pages as possible? I KNEW I'd see one somewhere, and now I know where... that Gammadyne site you posted (BTW- I have blingy DocPad in my arsenal, totally forgot was "freeware"; maybe I ought to scan my entire computer for other treasures?)

If you aren't too discouraged from all the wild (golden) goose chases you were sent on, try their free file combine appl - http://gammadyne.com/cmdline.htm
Naturally, you'll want to make copies of the test files in case it creates an unprintable chimera.

BTW- thanks for creating a private thread just for me. I'll likely be filling it up with all sorts of off-topic stuff real soon; and others are welcome to hijack it. :-)

I ran across a good freeware Notepad replacement, with built-in spell checker, at http://gammadyne.com/docpad.htm
. If you like lots of bells and whistles, you might consider this one.

DocPad is a superior alternative to Notepad. Although it fills the same role, plain text editing, it has many advantages: 10-level undo, alphabetization, block indent/unindent, bookmark, case conversion, encoding conversion, file history, jump to line, jump to offset, keyboard macros, print preview, search and replace, spell checking, statistics, variable pitch font, and much more. It also includes a built-in calculator, calendar, and character map.

The Spell Checker is a separate download, available at http://gammadyne.com/speller.htm

The skins are pretty cool, and you can even create your own! If you like wood at all, give that one a try, it's the one I settled on.

If you have been looking for a replacement for Notepad, you might give this one a chance, you never know..... :-)

Enjoy the journey!
