Bonjour Lauri :D

If you want to, send me your address, I think I have something that might interest you, regarding Acronis ;-)

I do agree w Robert, if you have a choice, Acronis is the way to go, even though it's expensive.
Gizmo made a series of articles on Imaging Backup sometime ago, I found very interesting. From that, I concluded Ghost is out of the question!

Peace, Manu

PS: Salut Robert, saw ur message :D Thank You!! Et j'ai répondu!!! ;*)

Paragon(v 8.5 Personal) works fine too,Copmom.But...be sure to run a thorough checkdisk on your HD before imaging.
..or you could get an unpleasant surprise when trying to restore to a (new)drive.

I noticed True Image is capable of skipping bad sectors.

BTW EASEUS Disk Copy 2.0 is freeware.
Copmon, to prevent overloads go for Acronis.
:)

Thanks Robert. Shucks.. mine are both Western Digital! I wrote myself a note earlier to check into Acronis True Image. Might be the way to go. I did get the Macrium one as well as Paragon from here, but truthfully, now I have too many things to choose from and wasn't sure which was best! I think I'm on overload in my brain???
And I don't think Easus is free..just went there and it's $69

Hi Copmom,

If you own a Seagate or a Maxtor drive (even a portable one) check this.(look for no 6)
Acronis is IMHO the best available nowadays.
Some computer magazines even offer free Personal versions of Acronis True Image.

Alternatives are Paragon,Ghost and...Macrium Reflect(recent give away).

Or you can use the free imaging soft from EASEUS

Bonjour Gonzo

I think *some* softs could be restored w a "simple" bkup, provided you know what u'r doing, but not all! Best solution is Imaging ur HD.

BUT the point of this project is, if you really like & use a program, you are supposed to buy it.
GOTD lets us experiment w a lot of softs & games, exactly for that purpose.
It's ours till we do a reformat or change PCs, not to keep for life, right?!!!

Amicalement, M.

Does this procedure work using ordinary file backup software like Titan Backup, or just with disk imaging software like Ghost, Acronis, and Macrium Reflect?

I realize disk imaging packages recover everything, but will file backups restore GAOTD offerings if that's all that you need, and, say, you didn't suffer a total meltdown?

You can do what many techies do. As we backup our hard drives regularly. Thus if something goes wrong, we can restore everything back once again. Even our GAOTD software, fully registered and all.

Hi Dehawk!
Well, you can redownload the software, but it won't work. The name of the site is Give Away of the Day. That pretty much says it all. Download, activate and install the software on the day(a rough 24 hour period) it is offered. It is yours to use, free, until such time that you lose your data due to crashes, reformatting, fire, theft...etc. :)
Sometimes software is re-offerd at a later date or something very similar is offered, or you can read the comments, there is often excellent, free alternatives suggested.
Hope this helps.
