I'm fine, Free, and hope you are well, too. I'm dividing my Saturday between work, preparing a huge dinner, and drafting a couple of new forum posts with free programs, one of which I hope you'll like - it struck me as a good adjunct to that pipebytes program you found.

Glad to know LaserAge works for ya. I noticed a couple glitches - a) the game sometimes loses control of the cursor, b) if you climb a few levels, the X for shut off doesn't work and you have to kill it another way; but all in all, it's well worth the effort. I recall climbing enough Levels way back when to trigger some awesome (for their day) graphics. Definitely not a boring asteroids clone!

BTW- It's getting very difficult to follow all threads of interest. (yes, I do go through my Profile for a list) Have you seen WhiteWabbit recently? Hope he's okay.

PS - I cannot relocate your message from about a week ago that contained a bazillion programs. Not the free games sofware, the "other" post. :-) Thought I'd saved a link to it, but can't find that, either.

Hey RM, how are you today? Thanks much for that link. The game installed just fine on WinXP Pro SP2, and played without a hitch! Nice game, except that you don't get a rest between levels. Other than that, nice one.

Thanks again!

As I gradually migrate old files from one computer to 'nuther, I sometimes come across long-forgotten but still entertaining games. Here's one that's sort of a big screen version of one of the PDA games FreewareFan found (only posting it since I found no mention of Laser Age on GAOTD, and because I can't relocate the thread where FF posted a massive amount of free games) One of the reviewers says it doesn't work on WINXP, but it did on mine, albeit not as well as with Win95. I've tinkered with some of WINXPs Compatibility Wizard settings but haven't found the right combination. I'd forgotten how darned addicting this game can be. The music/sound effects have a measurable effect on one's blood pressure! (worse than pacman) At least those who have older OSs should enjoy a good case of index finger carpal tunnel. FWIW, launching the game also launched a pop under to the (now defunct?) Ingava site (creators of the original LaserAge), but no worries.

NOTE TO MODS... despite the word download in the URL, this is NOT an automatic download page, it's just the CNET page for user reviews and the download link, so please don't change the URL the way I think someone did the last time I posted a CNET or PCMag link. If there's another "rule" or "ban" somebody thinks I'm violating. lemme know. -

Yes, I've been following the development of Spore for what feels like years.

However, I can't imagine Electronic Arts wanting to give anything away in the interests of marketing. But I think it's a game that looks interesting enough to purchase (based just on what I have read and seen).

FreewareFan, I'm curious what you think about my game wish, posted on the Suggestions for the Future aisle next to the Jello -
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/1450/page/10?replies=288#post-13035

Ever heard of it? Didn't find the name mentioned anywhere on GAOTD.

BTW, thanks for keeping your nose to the ground to sniff out any free offers from BRYCE. I'd love to add that to the other art packages now gathering dust on my hard drive!

How are you, RunesageMagi? I read your other comment, and you need not have worried, there were others that did a fine job of putting Vista through the mill. But as always, I'm sure that your wit would have been the icing on the cake. :-)

And yep, I'm liking the solitaire game in this group very much also. I keep going back to the pyramid and pyramid golf games mostly.. Have fun with 'em!

Hey, FreewareFan, I posted a longer reply to you, but on the wrong thread. FWIW, in case anyone else mistakenly thought these games were just for PDAs... run, don't walk to the download button and enjoy.

I just hope that it plays well enough to warrant porting it to the PC.
