Also, I did directly e-mail the company's tech support address with my originally-posted info, and got this polite reply:

"First of all, thank you very much for your interest in Almeza MultiSet!

My name is Alex Abramovsky. I am a project manager in Almeza Company.

OK. We will fix this problem..."

However, I don't know if that means I or anybody else will then receive the "fix" for our installations that are subject to the "no updates, no new versions" rules. I hope we do.

If he directly sends me some kind of general procedure to follow that should work for everybody, I'll post it here.

Maybe they'll do like some previous companies and repeat their GAOTD offer with an improved version (although I don't want to wait 6 months for that).

Agreed about Windows 98/ME; but yes, I also have Windows XP systems for all "new stuff".

However, would you believe that some businesses (like one where I recently was working) are not permitted to change ANYTHING about their government-regulated FAA-certified manufacturing/test setup, including some designs that date to the 1950's? Among them they have several "legacy" Windows systems they are not allowed to update. No Windows XP/Vista for them.

So I thought I'd evaluate this software myself, then recommend it to them if it (eventually) works OK.

You Windows Millennium users have got to get away from WinME.

Get to XP at least, or invest in a new system with at least 2gb r.a.m. when Vista SP1 arrives. You will have Vista pre-installed.

You are leaving yourself open to a lot of problems and security issues from the net using WinME.

I too got the same error on Win ME when installing MultiSet, re:NETAPI32.DLL:NetWkstaGetInfo. I downloaded the netapi32.dll, thinking mine was corrupt or missing, however I have one installed and is the same version as the one I downloaded. Then I looked up NETAPI32.DLL:NetWkstaGetInfo on Google, and apparently you can get this on a Java update to version 6, however, this update is for XP, and not available to Win ME users. Also Sun Java is not supporting Win ME and under anymore. The Almeza website and program maker obviously did not actually try their program out on Win ME/98/98SE, and should not have said it would work on all Os's.
Irresponsible advertising!

Yes, I suspect they probably have abandon support for Windows 9x/ME-based systems (as have so many others).

However, I did send a message with the same info directly to the address listed on their technical help page. Hopefully I'll actually get a reply (although it will likely confirm that MultiSet should NOT work for 98/ME anymore).

Maybe there's a fix that won't require an attempted GAOTD-activated re-installation which will be expired by then...

The Giveaway page states that the requirements are only

Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 Server/Vista

However I notice there is a mention on the multiset website that the program should also run on Windows 98 and Windows ME.

I suspect someone is not telling the complete truth....

Almeza MultiSet v4.5 installed and ran without problems on an XP system (as expected).

The download page states that it should run on Windows 98 and ME. However, on attempting to install it on the Window ME system I had errors when attempting to run/launch it. Two dialog windows popped up at the same time (and the program never ran):

------------------------------------------------

BUTTON(S): OK

------------------------------------------------

The install itself appeared to have no problems. I'm hoping for a reply with a fix in time (today) before the one-day GAOTD "activation" period expires.
