GAOTD doesn't give away enough photo and image editing stuff, right? So, when a still picture just isn't good enough, try FotoMorph. It scored a perfect 5 wingdings on Tucows. Might be useful for creating age progression photos of accidentally misplaced elderly relatives for milk carton BOLO posters.

Johnny Appleseed found a couple new graphics design seeds inside his vest pocket. Hope the artistically-inclinded will like 'em:

IMHO, matching clothes or interior decorating is a mystical blend of art and science best left to women. I couldn't correctly come up with a good shirt, slacks, socks and belt combo if my life depended on it. I'm more color-challenged than the colorblind. Perhaps that's why COLORJACK is fascinating. It instantly displays appealing complimentary or contrasting color combinations in ways I could never imagine as I stare slack-jawed at clothing racks or paint samples.

Any photo manipulation buffs out there? Despite what parents and nuns tell you, you won't go blind or get hairy palms if you're a Rasterbator. According to the site, "The Rasterbator creates huge, rasterized images from any picture. Upload an image, print the resulting multi-page pdf file and assemble the pages into extremely cool looking poster up to 20 meters in size."

Of course, you'd have to be a millionaire to afford enough HP or Epson ink to do that in color. Might be cool to print out ASCII drawings and lay them on the floor at the base of a stairway for a party... something like the XFiles episode - Conduit.

it's good to see you again here, I missed you :)
This graphics program was not in my collection, now I have a very nice and useful tool on my still very empty disk.
I haven't tested all it's options yet, have mostly played with the text tool and have put some new textures to those hundreds others.
Thanks for the finding.
By the way, the blue flower is a Sinningia (speciosa ?) / (Gesneriaceae). Could not find a picture in the net, there are so many varieties.

Freewarefan's list still outshines the competition, but JohnnyAppleseed's found a free piece of image editing software some might enjoy. It's called Phantasmagoria. No, not the software game, nor the poem by Lewis Carroll. It's billed as

"a fun, light-weight image editing application. The main focus is to apply effects to images, along with the basic editing that might be required after a sub-par shoot. In other words, what most of us actually need."

Hey, they said it, not me. Here are the key points:

100 % free for personal, non-commercial use!

Runs on any Java-enabled platform (including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux)

Supports a wide range of image formats

Contains dozens of cool effects

Lets you easily edit and improve your images

Create graphics, including textures and highy stylized text

Export directly to Flickr, with support for tagging, descriptions, privacy level, etc.

Get automatic Twitter updates after doing something with your images

Broadcast new uploaded images on Flickr with Twitter, including link

Try before installing; install-free version available!

@ BigThunder1 I have not personally used all the apps I listed above. I have used a good portion of them, but not all. The one that I ended up as my main program, was as stated, GimpShop. I really do like that one as being a very powerful freeware editor!

@ Idahl Many thanks for the thumbs-up vote!

Hey Crash, I checked it out and am impressed with splashup so far. It' now in my favorites imaging folder. I sometimes use Photoshops (v8), but haven't bothered reinstalling it on my main computers; after using one of the image editing programs given away here (Zoner photo Studio 9) which has basically everything I need at the moment as I'm not touching up those old slides that were damaged due to damp (The In-laws stupidly stored all their valuable family slides in the loft and they all got damaged some badly; not only through the damp, but a mite infestation caused by birds nesting in the loft area.), or creating group photographs out of lots of single images. It's amazing what some of these packages can do. At the moment I only do resizing and color management. :)

Thank you for the link and also to Freeware fan for his usual indepth collection of links.Rock on

For a free editor that is very close to PSP you might also want to try:
VCW VicMan's Photo Editor
http://www.vicman.net/vcwphoto/photo_f.htm

They ask for your email address to send you to the page where you can d/l
the software for free(they give away all their software for free now)
I have had very good luck with the software from this site.

FF... thanks for the great list, I'm going to try out gimpshop2.2! :)

As a personal recommendation, being a past PhotoShop user, I have to go with GimpShop 2.2, available at http://gimpshopdotnet.blogspot.com/ . After trying many very good freeware photo/paint programs, I have adopted GimpShop as my favorite.

However, your tastes are different from mine, of course, and so you now have a large list to choose from. Enjoy the journey! :-)

Photo Brush and Real Draw Pro:
http://www.mediachance.com/pbrush/index.html
Photo Brush is about $45. USD and is very much like
PSP was in usage. Demo those two and see what you
think.
Or buy Corel 8 on ebay... the cost will be reasonable
and it will have more functions than PSP.
Still a powerhouse package after all these years at
a reasonable price.

Just a couple of suggestions:)

Oh and Freeware Fan posted a couple of lists of useful sites...This was one of them:
http://www.oldversion.com/
They list old versions of PSP for d/l, I'm on dial up this week so I don't know if these are full versions or just demo's or what. Check them out and see.

I had PSP7 on my last computer but now I got a lap top and can't find the disks to install it. I am needing something that would work kinda like that.. If anyone has any suggestions I would most appreciate it.
