Could be:

1. Firewall
2. Anti-Spyware, Anti-Virus, Proxy server or your ISP - something that is capturing, filtering or modifying internet traffic either to or from the game.giveawayoftheday.com site.

Apart from these suggestions, there is little I can do, as in each case the problem seems to be specific to each users own computer/network/Internet connection.

There I go again. :p I added the "home" links for GOTD and GGOTD.

Earlier today, I checked the firewall settings to see if giveaway and gamegiveaway were on the "accepted" list...

Links to some (not all) previously downloaded GATD software were on the list. I added both "home" links. Maybe that was what I had needed to do.

No idea what your "home links" are - but I assume it's a term your firewall uses. In a nutshell, that has been the same story all along.

If you block the activation process so it cannot query the GOTD servers and get a response - you will not be able to setup or activate the software. A firewall blocking activate.exe or setup.exe will result, at best, in you getting a demo/trial install.

Yay! Today's game installed just fine. Adding the "home" links does seem to have fixed the problem, for me anyway. Maybe add that to the forthcoming FAQ? :) :)

It's not a problem (no aggro here) - it's probably me working on a dozen things at once - writing quick posts to get the "relevant details" might seem to be abrupt.

And I am just as curious as everyone else to nail exactly why the activation sometimes fails. Then we can put up a FAQ so new users won't need to ask the random/repetitive questions. Until then it remains a process of elimination.

(while downloading Dolphin)

Should have said "HAD" instead of "having", first of all. Makes a difference.

Sorry for the trouble. I thought that maybe there was something else I could have tried, although after-the-fact. Earlier today, I checked the firewall settings to see if giveaway and gamegiveaway were on the "accepted" list...

(downloaded, installed ok)

Links to some (not all) previously downloaded GATD software were on the list. I added both "home" links. Maybe that was what I had needed to do. I'll keep an eye on this and see what happens tomorrow. Again, sorry for the aggravation. :(

OK. Well, when you posted there was no way we could test or resolve the problem.

We are bound by the same activate process as everyone else so....

Can you install/activate todays giveaways?
