Yea.. I kinda agree with the both of you Beryl and Bill. I've always got my software activated. Like Bill "implied", reading the help file helps alot when it not just a click on the activate file. But when it's not just a click... or copy/paste a key, I know ppl are going to have problems activating.

The WORST one so far was the Icon Constructor a few days ago. Not that I couldn't figure it out, but I had to actually create the folder the instructions told me to deposit the key file in. The folder wasn't hidden and I have my computer configured to see ALL files and paths. Once I manually created the folder in the path the instructions were talking about, I put the key file there... and I was good to go. Still others just opened the .ic file with some text program (notepad) and copied the key into the registration when prompted when they opened the program.

It would be nice to have a "clear cut" repeatable way to activate, but with different developers, you'd have to get them all on the same page. And even though there are those that complain of registration, there are tons that didn't have a problem and were able to figure it out just fine. Usually if you follow the comment section... Someone has posted a way to activate that may help those that are having problems.

I've installed numerous programs from here. The others I installed were not in your list and did not use that activation process.

There are multiple activation schema's. Most "paste in" activation keys contain one or two lines, not 15.

There are many levels of users. I've used Mainframe's since the late 60's, Personal Computers since CPM (before DOS) at IBM in the 70's Online BBS's from the mid '1980's and most OS's up through now including work for Military Special Operations Recon.

Simplicity is paramount for first time or occasional web-site visitors. Consistency and clarity is important for ongoing visitors.

Some people program all day. They count from 0. The rest of the world starts at 1.

A few lines of clear instruction is all that should be necessary not a "lot of reading."

Some Systems Integrators (such as myself) have been supporting ALL LEVELS of users for over 20 years.

It appears you assume everyone has the identical approach and experiences you've had -- and reacts the same way.

You can be helpful with people "just like you" -- but perceive things very narrowly.

That doesn't matter much here, because - In this land of the blind, as a one eyed man, you can be a Pilot. <wink to you too>.

I thought the directions were very clear. And they had other software that activated the same way. Some of those includes the following:

I think a lot of complainers are doing a lot of clicking without a lot of reading. ;)

The activation would not work. I've activated at least 5 programs from here with NO problem.

Stickypasswords wanted something different. By the time I figured out where to get it. It wouldn't take. Said invalid and promotion over.

This looks like an excellent program. Maybe the problems is only with the authorization process.

I see numerous other people had problems with this program's behavior.

The Stickypass installation portion which showed what and where to enter the authorization code is very unclear. If I can't register it easily, how can I trust them with my passwords????

After referring a lot of people to your site, and registering other programs through you, I now have to register again and get an authorization password sent to me to get into the help forums.

What is that about? Easier to complain in the public area than get to the forums?
