Hello guys, I was able to play rip3 just yesterday 9.30.2007 philippine time by downloading audiere.dll version 1.9.4.0. I just followed the link and instructions provided by phil123 above. thanks a lot phil123!!But in addition please edit the config file via notepad found in the games directory by changing the video settings for resolution to 960x600. the drawback though, you have to perform the same config edit everytime you start rip3, for some reason upon exit the resolution is reset to 1024x768. For info, this is my pc specs which i consider average:
windows xp pro
video card 64mb only nvidia GEForce mx 4000
amd sempron 1.41ghz only
ram 640MB
directx version9

the forum was a big help for me, thank you!

This gets RIP and RIP 2 to work on Vista - (copied from Elephant Games)

"Vista fix:

The problem is in the audio library that the game uses (Audiere). The one in the game is too old. Download the latest version of Audiere from here:

http://audiere.sourceforge.net/download.php

Open the zip, go to the “bin” folder, and copy audiere.dll to the RIP folder where you installed the game. Overwrite the old file."

Both work BEAUTIFULLY after this on Vista Home Premium !

I must be doing something wrong then. I can't get to work with my Vista. Even tried compatability mode, and using administator priv. It installs, just wont play. Locks up at the "loading" screen. I know my puter meets specs (2.5Ghz processor, 2GB ram). Plus have a new 256MB Nvidia 8600 GTS video card

According to the developers website forums, only RIP 3 is Vista compatible. I guess we'll have to wait until GGOTD repeats that one.

Hello Phil,

Well, I don't have Vista, but I can't even get it to work on Windows XP Pro! It downloaded and installed ok; it launches just fine; but then shows me the first graphic, and simply shuts itself down.

This happened the last time I tried to install RIP here, but couldn't get any answers that would work to fix the problem.

My DirectX is up to date and I have a compatible video card (Nvidia 6200) which should be just fine to run this game.

I'd be grateful for any ideas,
Thank you!
~ Swan

Has anyone got this to work on Vista ?
No matter what compatability I set it for, it locks up at the beginning of loading and needs to be rebooted through the power button, as I cant get OFF the locked loading screen
I'm sure I got this going on Vista last time it was put up. But it's refusing to load at ANY setting, and crashing my comp.
