I emailed them and they want the original activation key which I don't have anymore. When I told them this they didn't reply to me.

Finally beat this game :) Happy they did resolve the registration though hope all the others take a peek in here so they can get theirs i know a lot of have had to gotten this game:)

I contacted WiredPlane via the link available in the game's opening screen, and have subsequently received a new registration code that works. It is a shame that the problem happened but they are to be congratulated on quickly supplying a solution once the problem came to light. Well done WiredPlane.

This is from Wiredplane games: first of all, sorry. We are giving free, non restricted key instead of GAOTD one - just write email to support@wiredplane.com with the link to this post.

Explanation: there was a bug in activation module of this game. It was supposed to limit time for activating the game with GAOTD key, but *already* activated copies should stay activated without any time limits. Remember, the free copy should be activated in the same day when it is downloaded, we decided to make this key "activatable" whole august. But due the error, the key itself turned to be "limited".
When several people writed about this issue to our support, we sent another, fully valid non-restricted key without questions.

So, again, Sorry for inconvinience :( This is our fault. Just write email containing link to this thread and we will write normal key in reply.

wjboozer - As much as I agree with your sentiments, I wouldn't blame GaotD for this. They had no way of knowing this was going to happen.

Just checked the forum on WiredPlane and posted my two cents worth, although I doubt it will do any good. The WiredPlane responder said to another poster (someone from here?)that limiting free keys was common and then expressed the notion that 20 days should have been enough time to play the game entirely - like playing through ONE time was all we were ever intended to do! I had been considering purchasing the game (as I said in the post that started this discussion) but not with that attitude. Either GATOD or WiredPlane can fulfill the original promise of fully functional, non-limited software or I'm done with both.

Same thing for me Bubby says trial has expired. I did write to the company and haven't heard from them.

Keilaron, I already went and checked after I wrote that! Yep, it was already a free download AND what's more ... I already have it! I have so much stuff I'll never use and don't even remember is there - need to clean house on my hard drives!!!

wiz011 - Did you ask them to? It's reasonable to think that not everyone should have to do it, but perhaps they're still under the belief that not everyone was affected. E-mail them, and tell them.

You are right that we should not have to each and every one go to their website and request the adjustment.

Are they apologize to the GAOTD community? Are they post a message to this board? Are they uploaded somewhere a fix? No. That isn't a fair practice.

I just emailed the WiredPlane Labs team via a link in the program's startup screen. In a couple of minutes they sent an apologetic message explaining there was a bug in the activation system of the game (it expired after month)and provided me with the correct key. I entered the key and my email address and the game is now fully registered.

Same here. If it's OK to tell, the "prize" was a serial number for another product by the same company, WireChanger.

At the end of the game, you get a series of numbers/letters. E-mail that as directed and you get the SN in return.

I hope they get this fixed. I go back to the games that I like and replay them. This one was challenging and entertaining.

Did anyone ever look at the Trophy Room and click on the icon "Prize?" I did and it popped up a dialog box with some message about sending the developers an email with those characters. I think it said you received a registration in return. I didn't write any of it down or take a screenshot thinking I already HAD a registration and that the prize was the code to another game perhaps..........now I'm wondering just what it really was. I've not uninstalled the game hoping there would be a fix. Will check back tomorrow in hopes there's a status change.

My game also shut down over the weekend.

Seems that everyone has the same issue. The game says that the key provided by GAOTD is invalid. I've checked the stored data in "documents and settings" folder of this game and in C:\Documents and Settings\[USER]\Application Data\AmuletAdventure\launcher_config.ini the game always erase the key provided by GOATD. Without any doubt that was a cheat by the game developer.

If anyone else finds that theirs has expired (or is still working) please let us know. I've let the GOTD team know about this.

I finished it very quickly, so I hadn't reloaded it. But I did after reading this thread, and, yes, mine now says 'trial period over'. Very naughty!

Mine has done the same thing.

Based upon past experience, I would advise people not to uninstall until the developer has been contacted to make him aware of the problem. When this has happenned with other giveaways, it has always been a misunderstanding in the way the activation was set up and was purely unintentional.

Particularly if you like the game and want to keep it - Do not uninstall!

Same here for my game. Who can we complain to. I do not wish to buy it when it was suppose to be free.
