Hi Keriver,

Thank you for answering my question. I was confused because I have both versions installed at the same time. The default directory and Start menu names are not the same as the ones of the old installation. To be sure I am going to uninstall both versions and install the new one from scratch.

Thank you for setting me straight,

-Mario

Hi Face,

Q. Just one question - should we uninstall the old version before downloading the new one?

A. You don't need uninstall the old version before downloading the new one. But, you should uninstall it before you install the new one.

Hi pauloparra,

1) The previous version needed a running Windows Service. This Service doesn't exist anymore. Is that normal?
The service still exists, but, in fact, it's only necessary for windows VISTA.

2) With the original Keriver we got a number of support files, like an ISO recovery image, Help files, AutoRun.exe, isolinux, etc. Are they still valid? Do we need to get new ones?
Because the Recovery Media Builder is added, so, those files isn't needed. And, by the way, do you think that's better if I still include those file in the package in the future?

3) There were Keriver backups files that I can explore now, but couldn't explore before. Are there new options or features we should be aware of?
I don't know why you couldn't EXPLORE before, but now you could, that's fine. -:)

Thanks keriver, for your generosity in allowing us to upgrade - It is that kind of attitude, along with your support in following us here in the Forums - that makes all the difference when I go to purchase software. GOTD really lets us get to know which companies value their customers and stand behind ther products and these are the ones I choose to spend my money on.

Just one question - should we uninstall the old version before downloading the new one?

Hello,

Thank you AlexSJ, fellow Mojopac user, for giving me the confidence to try this upgrade. Now I see the purpose of saving all the files from GAOTD. When a serial number is needed, I always save it in the readme.txt file, so all I had to do was to open it to access the serial number. Good deal!

The process was very simple. Download the executable from the link that Keriver posted in the first post of this thread. Run it. Reboot. Run Keriver and input the serial number when prompted. That's it!

I am aware of the lack of tech support, but I am curious about a few things.

1) The previous version needed a running Windows Service. This Service doesn't exist anymore. Is that normal?

2) With the original Keriver we got a number of support files, like an ISO recovery image, Help files, AutoRun.exe, isolinux, etc. Are they still valid? Do we need to get new ones?

3) There were Keriver backups files that I can explore now, but couldn't explore before. Are there new options or features we should be aware of?

It sure looks like this new release of Keriver is a great improvement!

Thanks,

-Mario

PS: I want to explain, to anyone who cares, the reason why I need to be confident about the upgrade.

I have MojoPac, which is very unstable software. Installing a simple program on it may make it unusable, so I back it up before installing any new program which is pretty much everyday. My MojoPac is installed on a 60GB Passport drive which, for some strange reason, came formated with FAT32 file system.

If I change the file system to NTFS I lose one of three free installations per license that RingCube allows. This means that I can't use the regular ntbackup directly because all my computer disks use NTFS. I needed a program that was able to backup an entire FAT32 disk and restore it.

I tried several, XXcopy, DriveImage XML, Backup4all3, DoubleSafety, ... and it came very clear that Keriver was the best. Easy to use, fast backups, recovery of entire drives that use any file system, explore ability, compresion choices, ...
On top of all that, you guys give free tech support even though we are not entitle to it.

Hi FranckW,

I downloaded it and I am thinking about doing the returnil thing so that if something goes wrong, I can go back to the previous version, but I am swamped with work and can't do it right now. Do we have to install the upgrade today?

From the wording of the message it looks like we can upgrade anytime, but one can't never be too sure. I don't think I'll be able to try until tomorrow. I hope it is ok to try it then!

-Mario

Hi FranckW,

Did you download the new version and installed it w/o any problems? Keriver has become a critical part of my backup process and I would hate to lose it.
