You can use a download manager (Extension/Addon) called "Flashgot" which acts as the "glue" between different download managers and Firefox.

You can install it from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/220

If you are new to Firefox - some handy links for "getting started" are:

Hi Amar77,

I had the same problem running Windows XP, SP2, IE6 but upgrading to IE7 fixed it. (I had trouble upgrading to IE7 too, but that's another story!). Firefox is my main browser but I have to use IE for the BigFishGames toolbar, and it annoyed the heck out of me, continually closing down.

My sister was running WINME and IE6 though, and she had the same problem too. So, she ditched her total computer and bought a new one with Windows XP, SP2 and IE 7. No further problems. I tried to get her to go the Firefox way, but she wasn't having it.

So, like BuBBy suggested, install Firefox and your problem goes away.

i hope that this problem will be thrown away with your solution that is coming in the next comment by "BuBBy". thanks

Install Firefox?

Seriously, it sounds like a file or registry setting has been replaced or changed or some other software has been installed that is affecting IE 6.

I'd suggest a "System Restore Point" (if you have it enabled) or re-install IE6 which would reapply the files and settings.

I'd also suggest ditching WinME, but that's ancient history now. ;)

Do you get the error message (and browser crash) when opening any other websites - or does this only occur each time you open the GOTD website?

I'm using IE7 and have never had a problem at all. Have you updated lately? Check this out. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx You need to be updated to sp2.

BTW there's another thread about IE and Firefox. Give it alittle time to grow and you may be able to make an informed choice about one or the other.
