Sue: Sounds to me like you'd like to have a look at IE7.js:

IE7 is a JavaScript library to make IE behave like a standards-compliant browser. It fixes many CSS issues and makes transparent PNG work correctly under IE5 and IE6.

Your welcome. This is the second time that's happened that I've heard of, but seems either your Ff update helped or the glitch grinch took a hike by the time you got back to the site here. Since you had leak issues testing with IE6, that tells me I'll likely have to upgrade to v7 to test with when I get around to building a site for myself. I had IE7 and didn't like it so I ripped it and went back to IE6. IE7 is not user friendly to me and I don't like the layout at all! Of course I've never been a fan of IExploder. IE7 is a better choice security wise for those who do use it as their main browser, but the radically changed UI layout strikes me as though MS just tried to rebuild the house and put the front door on the second floor! It's just not a friendly logical layout to me.

On another note if you'd be so kind, ...please use my full screen name in the future. May seem petty to some, but I went through ID hell over it some time ago and don't want to relive it. I only ask for the same respect I give in return in this regard. Thanks. ;) I look forward to seeing you around the forums here and hope you enjoy the diverse community. I've enjoyed your reviews on the main page and appreciate the insight you provide through them. It's a great place with some great people... and some not so, but that's life. It's not only a great place to find software etc., but to learn things from some very knowledgeable folks that hang around here too. A pretty unique pleasant bunch ranging from n00bs to experts in different areas.

Regards... :)

Hi BigThunder .. thanks for your welcome and for the info. :-)
Much appreciated! Like you, I religiously use Ff - but do have IE 7.0 installed as well, so can revert to it when I need to. The most frequent use I have for it tho is when I'm making changes to our biz website, or creating our two e-newsletters. It's handy to have IE as well as a quick reference for how they render in that as well as in Ff. Biggest pain in the proverbial though is IE 6.0 I reckon! Our homepage (with boxes created fully using CSS, not tables)works fine in Ff, IE7.0, Opera, IE5.0 ... and most others (according to a website I use that does a compatibility check with a number of browsers. But IE6.0?? Boxes leak all over the place. Grrrrrrr!
Cheers, Sue

Hi Sue, welcome to the forums!

Not to butt in here, but in case you didn't know, the IE tab extension for Firefox uses the IE engine in the background and is the reason you were able to render the page with it. I've personally never had a problem with Ff (which I use religiously, bar-none) rendering pages for GOTD but your not the first to have a problem. Lots of folks had the same problem a month ago. Likely a server glitch or wordpress issue. I don't know that anyones quite figured it out yet, but strange things happen on the www . Glad all is OK for you now. Enjoy! :)

Hi Lee .. thanks for the heads up on the Firefox update. I've now installed it and the GOTD home page is working fine again. :-) Not sure why the glitch tho, as it was working without a problem yesterday. Titan Backup was available, and I downloaded it, installed it and posted a review comment as well as a few responses to others. I've never had the problem before either - weird!

Still, all is well again, so that's fine. :-)

And another plus is that (in searching for a solution to the problem via Copernic) I've finally entered the GOTD forums for the first time, as these pages were working for me even tho the home page wasn't. I know the link to the forums has been there on the GOTD home page, but for some reason I've not previously dropped in to read the posts here - and there's certainly a heap of useful information, so I'm sure I'll be back!

Anyway, many thanks for your reply and for letting me know the update was available... and also a big thankyou to you and all the GOTD team, as I it's a brilliant idea and a great service! :-)

Cheers
Sue

I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but this evening the GOTD home page won't load at all in a Firefox tab. Status bar reads "Done" but page is completely blank.

IE works fine, as does an IE tab within Firefox. (I have the Firefox IE Tab extension installed, and when I tried loading GOTD using this add-on and was able to load the home page with no problem at all.

Any clues anyone?

Cheers, Sue
