Actually, he could drag the .ini file (not the .exe!) into Notepad and then copy & paste what is in it to the body of the email.

I don't need the .exe file that comes in the .zip you downloaded from my site. That would not help me find the trouble.

When you run ClutterBuster the first time, it creates an .ini settings file with the info of what should be displayed on each button. That is the file I wanted to see.

Robert, you're exactly right. I remember in the past I had to rename an .exe file to end in .doc so it would send, and then the person on the other end had to change it back again to .exe when they got it!

Fullbug,

Copmom is (partly) right.Even zipped .exe,.ini,.bat... files are not allowed.
You could try giving the file another extension or removing the extension from the file to send it. (XXX.exe ---> XXX.doc)

Note:be sure to mention this to app103.
He should rename the extension before opening the file!

1-I'm not using Vista, my desktop computer is a Windows XP Pro, and my laptop is Windows XP home, so that cant be it....

2- No on this one as well, just use program shortcuts on the desktop, all my program folders are in my Programs folder, so that cant be it either....

I will try what you suggested and put the program file with the other programs....

@ hotdoge3:

That is a PAD file, not a page meant to be viewed in your browser. It isn't meant to have style information. Software sites use PAD files to get the info they display about an application on their site. If the info in the PAD file changes, like when there is a new version released, the info on the software site will change as well. You can read more about PAD files here: http://www.asp-shareware.org/pad/

@ fullbug:

Without more information I can't tell you what the problem is, but there are 2 things I can think of off the top of my head that could cause an issue with running ClutterBuster:

1. You are trying to run it on Vista. I do not claim Vista compatibility in any of my applications. I can't. I don't own a copy of Vista, nor do I own a computer that can run Vista, so I have no way of testing if anything will work on Vista. I can tell you it will run quite well on an 11 old P1 233mhz, with 64mb ram, and Win9x, though...because that happens to be what I was using when I created the application.

2. You have a habit of storing files on your desktop, rather than shortcuts to the files. This is a very common Windows user mistake. The desktop was not designed to store files and one should not keep files there. Only shortcuts to files should be kept on your desktop. There can be issues with things going wrong when running applications in which the location of the .exe file is directly on the desktop, especially if the application has settings stored in another file or the registry, which would be the case with ClutterBuster. Solution: Place the ClutterBuster.exe file somewhere else on your hard drive and create a shortcut to it on your desktop, instead.

If neither of these are your problem, you can find my email address on the Contact page of my site to contact me directly, and we can find out why ClutterBuster is not working for you.

I was hoping to find ClutterBuster handy, but after putting a few icons in, it disappeared....
Now when I click on it, it just quickly flickers on the screen, and then disappears again, not sure what the problem is, tried re-downloading it again, still the same thing....

Your welcome!

I wouldn't know about broken issues relating to submissions. Have you contacted GOTD directly via email/contact page for help? I assume you have but there was no reference to it in your post above. I can't imagine they wouldn't want to list your app. It's a great little tool!

Glad I stumbled into the forums area of this site. Instant Boss sounds like something I am in desperate need of. I tend to get so engrossed in projects that I find myself losing hours of the day. By the time I force myself to take a break, I have a headache, I realize I'm actually hungry, and my family is complaining because I'm grumpy. I'm downloading your program to see if it can help me. If not, I may have to find a program that automatically saves whatever I'm working on and shuts down my computer ... and actually locks it up for a designated amount of time. haha Sounds drastic, doesn't it? Wish I was kidding. Hopefully I won't need to go to those measures, and your program will enough. Going to download it now. I'll let ya know how it works out for me, and I'm definitely sending a few of my friends to your site and recommending the program.

Thank you! Your time, dedication, and hard work is so very much appreciated.

Mine is a time management/productivity/RSI prevention tool. It doesn't restrict access to anything on your computer.

The idea is to help you stay focused and working...and make sure you take breaks too. Helps you manage large tasks by breaking them into smaller ones.

It is based on a productivity concept from 43folders: http://www.43folders.com/2005/10/11/procrastination-hack-1025/

At the time that I wrote it, there wasn't really anything for windows specifically made for this, and I was asked to do it by a DonationCoder.com forum member.

I was just trying to help give your site and apps a boost. ;) My comment " The fact that you state it's donation ware may be the reason it's not getting the attention here you wish. Just a thought. " was just that, ...a thought. It shouldn't have any bearing in the matter, but I don't know why you haven't been able to list your app here. I don't know what or how GOTD thinks about things or what apps to list and was only trying to help get it some attention. As I stated, you have a nice site with lots to offer!

I don't expect anything. That's not why I code. I do it because I enjoy it and I release my software to the public because I like to share. Nobody will ever get rich from coding freeware/donationware. If that is what you are after, you are in the wrong line of business.

What little I do get is more of an encouragement and an indicator that I am doing something right, and which programs I should focus more of my attention on developing.

Thanks for the link app103. I see alot of neat programs you have. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with the donation requests. Thats what keeps programs/coders going. Of course 99 out of 100 people here want everything for free so I wouldn't expect alot from your link here.

I definately saw a couple of the programs that I'm interested in and don't mind kicking in for your effort in solving problems that the everyday PC'er develops.

Donation is strictly voluntary, much in the same way that Spybot is. (yes, that's donationware too)

Everything on my site is free if you don't want to donate. There is no nag screens or anything stopping you from having a full version. I don't offer scaled down versions for people that don't donate. What you see is what you get. Pay what you think it's worth to you and can afford, even if the amount is $0. (so I guess that means it is freeware)

Lots of useful info/links for programmers amongst others and a nice selection of free apps you've created. Your Instant Boss application looks like a very good way to keep from getting lost with time and fatigue when immersed in a project or just working with ones PC for long periods.

I'd like to know how the freeware you have in the freeware section actually got there. I am sure the developers didn't submit PAD files for it. (I asked one that I know, personally, and he told me he didn't)

There is plenty of good freeware out there that will never be added to this site because the submission process is broken or something.

I have been trying to get mine added to site for awhile (since you started the freeware section), with no luck.

I was hoping for my Instant Boss application to be added before September, since that is when everyone goes back to school. It's a fantastic study/productivity tool. (not just my opinion, some people have credited their phd's to it).

Here is the link to the PAD file in case some admin on the site would like to add it manually: http://www.appsapps.info/pad/instantboss.xml
