My Task Manager is "Microsoft/SysInternals Process Explorer v10.21"

It is Free and can be downloaded from Microsoft.

It's not really aimed at the novice user - but it would be a very good way to learn a bit about the relationship between different components & processes running on your system and how they relate to your system performance.

They also have a forum if it all gets a bit much (or you just want to read and learn).

(I use and love almost all of the sysinternals utilities)

Glad you got it worked out guy. I didn't catch that you couldn't get it turned off. There is another program that is fantastic. Its called "Kill Process". It does much better than windows task manager. It is offered sometimes in other freeware packages like USDownloader.

Thanks, that did it! I have really liked this group, I have learned mroe about the workings of my computer than anywhere.

Glary Utilities was a killer, but didn't do long lasting damage, I learned a lot the hard way then!

I knew there must be a way, and it made sense once you said it, it was easy to find. Thanks, everyone.

actually, this is interesting, I had anoter clock program that I really liked. I had installed on my last computer, and I pretty much had the same thing with that one. To access it, you right clicked on the clock, but it never showed, and it said it was running, dang, it had the clock chiming every 15 min, and I couldn't access it to set my preferences!!! How is that for annoying!!??

I liked that one and paid for it, but it won't run on this system for some reason. Interesting that another clock program is doing the same thing.

I run Win64Pro.

well, if you think its running, you could check out the Task Manager processes tab and end the program- its a bit risky on which processes to stop, but it gets the job done.

Ok, I know what both of you are saying. BuBBy, it's not hidden. I have no icons anywhere. I did have one on the desktop, and that was all, but when i clicked on it, it told me it was running.

and Archangel, I did make note of the path it is in. In fect, when I tried to remove it, i had to go there to find it, and i did, but again, it tells me it is running, but otherwise, I see no visuals. I opened help, and I don't have the display it shows. I have the skins listed on the file, but nothing to put the skins on, i see the wav files, but again, no module.

I did try to uninstall it using their uninstaller, but it says it has to be closed to uninstall, I used windows add and remove also, and it said the same thing.

When i click on the right click on the time,i get the usual windows list.

I think it annoys me even more that it seems to be running, and i can't turn it off, much less remove it.

Just a note that might help in the future. We all need to know our software. What I mean is, when installing a new program, you will always get a path before installation in which you can choose another path if you want. I don't but I do make a note of where it went.

Most software also includes an uninstaller that can be found in the program folder. Use that if you don't have an uninstaller or windows didn't detect it in its add/remove programs.

Best thing to do in your situation is, reinstall it again only this time note where it was installed. Then you can go to the folder and do your thing.

Perhaps you chose to hide it in your system tray during installation. Try right clicking on your time/clock in the lower right of your screen - and pick "restore" from the menu.

You can turn the "hide" option off in the "settings" menu for Chronograph.

(Also under Settings>Tray Clock - you can pick a different skin or to not replace the standard clock at all).

BuBBy, help!! I decided to check out chronograph. I downloaded it this morning. I clicked on the icon, it tells me it's running. I can't find it anywhere. I decide if i can't see anything to uninstall it. I can't, I have to turn it off to uninstall, but I can' find it to turn it off. I tried reinstalling it, and I can't, cos I have to turn it off to reinstall. How do i turn it off or on, if I can't see it anywhere?
If I can't even look at it, I don't want it on my computer, any suggestions?

Thanks

Hello,

Last March I decided to give Chronograph a try because for some reason, my XP clock won't synchronize to nist. I can open their web site, but I am stuck with Microsoft's server for my synchronization needs. Also Chronograph could show you the date, something I need a lot.

I uninstalled it. I don't remember why, but it was really misbehaving. Is this a different version? I am going to try this one too, but I'll put it on a shirt leash
