Michelle,
It was developed with p2p in mind, but that doesn't mean you have to use it for only that. It has lists set to block spyware and ads, for instance.

It looks like it is for p2p. I don't use p2p programs though someone else might find it useful.

If you are interested in whom is browsing your ports at any time, try the free program Peerguardian 2.
http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2

You can set banned lists and block your ports from intrusion.
(Unfortunately it doesn't work on Vista yet)

I was astounded at the range of 'visitors' sniffing round my ports!

I've never heard of 2 pc's going to the same url with 2 different screens. Thats very odd. Have you cleaned the cache? Do you software that prefetches? If so clean that too.

This was something different and I am the only one that it happened to that visits that site. It appeared normal to everyone else, it was not a porn site but appeared to be one to me. I'm just wondering how it was done? Anyone have any clue? Thank you.

The best example would be if I went to giveawayoftheday.com and it appeared to be normal to me, but you went on your computer and saw something else.

Yes and its done quite often. You get rerouted. Sometimes you can catch it for just a second if your looking at the address bar or even looking at the bottom of your browser. When it pings, the site you are going to has to answer and you'll see something like "waiting for http://www.anthing.net"

When I'm posting a pic, I have already uploaded to a site that I store jpegs, gif's ect. Even though you are on one site, when you see the pic I posted, your actually there. This saves space for websites and distributes bandwidth. So most are not bad and it is commonly used.

Can someone the administrator of a website or whoever make it look like you are on a website, but really somewhere else? A couple years ago I visited a site, was a frequent visitor of a site and then just one day started seeing a porn page when I went to that site. At the time I was using a router and we shared the internet connection. The address was the same as the one before. Everything appeared to be the same, except for the content of the page.

I was wondering for some time now what happened and if I was hacked. I just had problems with that page with I thought was weird at the time. Thank you.

Tracing a hacker

Sometimes, it's just not enough to simply know that there's a Trojan or Virus onboard. Sometimes you need to know exactly why that file is onboard, how it got there - but most importantly, who put it there.

[snipped]

So now you know how you can detect and track without any special programs.

Hope you enjoy,
Archangel
