"Worse thing about this bomb is that I am unable to get all of the nasty software that was installed along with the "screen saver" off of my computer. I have been hacking at the program a little each day since the software was installed on my computer. I still have a way to go."

All this off-topic chat and completely missed the original question.

To get rid of the screensaver "extras":

Go to Control Panel-> Add or Remove Programs
or even use todays "Cleanse Uninstaller".

The offending program you want to get rid of is called "Astro Gemini Screensaver Manager 1.2"

problem solved. (To remove the screensaver - that is under the "title" of the screensaver (eg. Titanic 3D)

hehehe You don't know my PC. It be like 2 minutes scanning the reg. I agree that really it only needs to detect new software installions. Maybe somebody will build on that.

I believe what is happening is, it looks over your harddrve for all programs before bringing up the opening window. I can live with it.

Yes, I know... and yes I can live with it too. I was just saying that I think this is an area where I could see some improvements using some intelligent caching - and much of this analysis could be done instead when the program is selected to be uninstalled.

The actual registry areas where installed software is identified could be scanned in less than 2 seconds - the detailed analysis of this data isn't actually required unless the application is selected to be uninstalled.

So does Your Uninstaller. I believe what is happening is, it looks over your harddrve for all programs before bringing up the opening window. I can live with it.

Your right Hadeda!!! Now everybody can have one. I downloaded it to compare to mine and its pretty good. I ran a registry scan after uninstalling a couple of programs with it and it had removed everything!!!!

The uninstaller I like

http://www.winnertweak.com/uninstaller/

Also does a nice job cleaning up after the programs uninstall finishes - (cleans up any leftover files or registry entries). The only downside, I feel it takes a while to start up if you have lots of software installed.

The best program for uninstalling programs is "My Uninstaller". It not only uninstalls the program that you are removing, but also all files that it has created and all registry entries that the program made. Its not freeware but it is well worth the expense.

Hey Game Giveaway, that might be a software company to contact.

One more thing, KC4COP does this indicate that your are a cop? Just wondering because I'm a retired one myself and still under 50!

I wanted to see if any of the hype about this screen saver had any merit. So I installed the 3-D Titanic Screen Saver and tried to configure it.

Could not configure the Screen Saver, unable to get the interactive functions to work, no control over the movie that was called a screen saver. Video quality was very poor (typical of CGA or EGA quality).

Worse thing about this bomb is that I am unable to get all of the nasty software that was installed along with the "screen saver" off of my computer. I have been hacking at the program a little each day since the software was installed on my computer. I still have a way to go.

Every time that I tried to get to on-screen help for this program, I was taken to a web site wanting to sell more screen savers.

Very Bad Form

KC4COP

If anyone has been able to permanently remove the screen saver console, please let me know.
