spyke322, that is likely to be a problem only the webmaster on that site can fix. There is probably a typo or similar in their style.css file.

Hello hamstergirl,

Did you get this fixed? In case you haven't and still want to I should tell you that I had similar experiences because of the FF NoScript addon. I have all scripts off by default and sometimes I just forget to allow site scripts when visiting new sites.

Since these are pages you have already visited all I can think of is that either you have lost the 'allowed sites' list for some reason or the offending sites might have changed their login to use scripts.

Just a thought.

hamstergirl - NO. Reinstalling won't change your profile (by default anyway), and it's likely related to your profile. First, what extensions DO you have? Second, have you tried creating another profile and seeing if it can log in? See how to manage Firefox profiles.
By the way, I'm wondering why you keep seeing the error console... it pops up on it's own, I presume?

dickster - No, those don't affect each-other. It's kind of a lame hack; There are HTML comments (<!-- -->) in script tags so that older browsers don't show their contents (sigh), and the script comments (//) are there so that the HTML comments don't cause parse errors (sigh).

I'm encountering this same error in Firefox when I logoff my Gmail account. I suspect it may be caused by an html comment, standard < !-- to -- > but with // on the last line that has the comment terminator. Maybe Firefox is interpreting that // as another comment line that causes the -- > terminator to be ignored, and thus isn't properly terminated.

See if you have lines that begin with //.

Really its what you prefer. Some like Fox and some like IE7. Good luck. It sounds like uninstalling and completely redoing your browser will be the best thing. Again, good luck.

Hi BuBBy,

your gonna love this.....whatever you did, there are no more errors on my FF error console. But i still can't log in!!! Welcome to a day in the virtual life of a hamstergirl!!! I'd probably cry if i wasn't rotflmao (and this is the 1st time ever i have felt compelled to use that little, but oh-so-perfect piece of computerease). The webpages load just fine w/FF, its just that when i try to sign in, nothing happens. I stay on whatever page i am trying to sign in from and zip, thats it. I tried with a new password, no go. When i deliberately tried an incorrect password, i got sent to the "your name and password ain't right" page. This is what happens when i try to sign in to some of my other accts as well, including my isp provider's page (they don't support FF so i can't get any help from them). The thing that bothers me the most is that the times when i was unable to access a site with IE for whatever reason, i was always able to fall back on FF - thats how i wound up making it my default browser.

Do you think an uninstall, new download, and then reinstall would do any good?

Archangle, thank you for your input. Some time soon i plan on getting a new machine, and when i do, i'll give ie7 a whirl.....lol, be afraid, be very afraid (thats my next nightmare-what to get, what not to get, which OS...i can't breathe just thinking about it!).

Cheers,

I just checked and I am getting the same warning messages in the Firefox Error Console. Not sure why this would stop you from actually loading the webpages altogether though.

There are 2 small typos in the css. I've asked the person to correct them for us.

Alot of forums that I'm on prefer Firefox so your with the majority. LOL Wished I could help but...............I have no idea why its not translating the template. Good luck.

OOP's I didn't finish reading your post until after I posted. You know us men. I'm downing Firefox either. I know some that swear by it.

I like the speed and ease of use that MS has put into 7. Believe it or not but it is twice as good as 6 (in my opinion). There are many addon's, But I choose to only add what I'll use. There mainly buttons.

It boils down to what you like.

hello!
tried safe mode, no luck. I use very few add-ons and those that i do, i've had for months with no problems. about 10 days ago, all of a sudden i couldn't log in to a couple of my accounts on the net - got similar results (as above). I even tried System Restore although, as i understand it, i didn't think it would help in this instance, but hey...nope. I did install the updated version of Firefox that just came thru, even hoped it might fix things (yeah,i know, everybody laugh at the newbie, i can take it)..again, no luck. i'm assuming my inability to log into this forum is just an extension of whatever went wrong ten days ago which i only just discovered. I hate uninstalling and reinstalling, but may try that next - i just wondered if anyone here could decipher what these error mssgs refer to.

Archangel - Never had the problem with IE 7

Neither have i - since i don't have it (bad joke, couldn't resist :)
I'm not saying one is better than the other, its just that Firefox is what i've gotten comfortable with. I started with IE6, which is what i'm using right now, but after trying out Firefox a few times, i made it my default browser. I like my Harley theme, my StumbleUpon tool bar, my color zilla, etc., and i hate switching just to access one or two sites. What is it that you like about IE7? I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say on the subject.

Cheers,

Have you recently installed or updated any FireFox addons?

try starting Firefox in safe mode without extensions (typically by running)
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode

(Or there might be an icon in your start menu)
