Just tried this app and my kinda slow 1.5mb downstream
connection showed the same before and after using it.

WR, try another server and repeat the test several times, the results can differ dramatically.
I have "bought" 16 MB with guaranteed 10 MB, look what I have got today:

That's the best one, the average was 28.72 down and 0.89 up.
Yesterday it looked very different (with another test tool), then I never got at least the 10 MB.

The first picture shows a server nearby, this is the result from a server on the other side of the globe.

Thanks for the link jocoolguy. I've always thought my 10Mb connection wasn't up to scratch. It's showing it to be half the speed I'm payig for. Trouble is this is the same story across the UK. We are being ripped off.

i realize that he speed quoted is probably the optimised speed. It's now 9.25am in the UK which probably means there's already a lot of traffic on the net. whether it's going to be affected by the US switch on, which usually starts around 10.30-11am in the UK, i'm not sure. Will have to monitor my speeds. my upload speed was quite shocking at only 250Kb per sec
