Errr.. anybody got a clue how to set the thing up so it makes a decent copy?

I admit, the 36 minute dvd I put in wasn't the greatest, but the resulting rip was *terrible*

I too was shocked that my DVD Ripper was suddenly unregistered after successfully registering it the first time. Today is the 28th (the day that it is supposed to be re-launched). Today is Videoput... Is DVD Ripper still gonna come back, anyone know?

Quote: "Aimersoft DvD Ripper v1.0.17 is the buid of the one given here.

Their website advertises v1.0.18 funny thing is it's actually version 1.0.16

Must be All fools day early."

My version says 1.0.18. And the "datepatch.reg" trick works fine. However I tried different DVDs (Zone 2 as I'm in Europe; I have a handful of Zone 1 disks somewhere; haven't tried with those) and they all result in the "invalid IFO files" and "Failed to create decoder..." error messages. I use DVD43, a TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident utility) that removes Analog Video Copy protection on the fly.

I suggest you wait for the officially announced fix available tomorrow or monday (day varies according to various posts by GOTD Project Team)

EDIT:

You DON'T need to change your PC's system clock AT ALL to have the datepatch.rg trick to work.

I don't know blsphaller15? Carol complained of the same thing. It seems to work okay for me. There was two versions of Aimersoft DVD Ripper released yesterday. Which one did you two get? The second one was released like 8 hours or a bit earlier before it ended. I downloaded the first one, but later replaced it with the second one before I installed it.

ok guys, so i have tried the above solutions, and what i have found is that the only way i can use the registered software is to set my system clock back. I am obviously doing something wrong but i don't know what.
i made this file in notepad and saved it as datepatch.reg

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B7319A93-DF12-494A-9F75-452C6B4CEFFF}]
"InstallDate"=-

i double clicked the file, then set my system clock forward and opened the dvd software. Then set my clock back, and im still unregistered. What am i doing wrong? advice appreciated!

Hi BillW50,
Thank you for letting me know I did it the wrong way round, that's just typical of me lol. Anyway, I've tried changing the date to 2099 running the DatePatch, then putting the date back to today and launching the program and it still asks for registration. I've tried numerous ways to get it right but would still ask for registration after the 24 hour period. I will just have to keep using Bubbys patch every 24 hours and wait and hope that by Monday it will all be fixed.
Thank you all for trying to fix this problem.

fun,
there are working ways around it, but the point is "free" and by free, I mean legally free.
anyways, just thought it was funny and annoying
the full version is less then the trial, who needs a one day full version if there are no differences? Guess they misunderstood what 24 hours meant :)

In an ideal world, mistakes wouldn't happen. In this world they do.
Problems will occur from time to time--the important thing is how they're dealt with. GOTD
has acknowledged this problem and are going to post a solution soon. What more could they do?
I've downloaded several programs here, and have never had registration problems before, so one blip is no big deal.
To be honest, I was glad to find out it wasn't down to me doing something wrong--lol.

Hi Carol! No you did it backwards! Move the date into the future (like 2099) and then apply BuBBy's reg file. And then move back the date to today. It should now work until 2099.

The first time you run the program - it puts the current system date & time back into the registry. I just set the clock forward a week and ran the program - which updated the registry with the date and time. Then quit the program - set the date back to the correct value - and the program launched without a problem.

So - I suppose (in theory... because it's 2.00am here and I'm off to bed - so someone else can test this), if you cleared out your registry - put your date forward to 2008, then ran the DVD ripper, quit, put your date back to the real value - you should be "registered" until 24 hours after the 2008 date in your registry.

\o/ nite all.

Well I have read the value, it should wipe out the 24 hour value period.

I have tested it and moved system clock forward 48 hours and it has no nag reg screen now.

thanks BuBBy - I'll try that later when I get home;

PS: see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310516

the .reg file needs a BLANK LINE after the "Windows Registry Editor..." line
(total 4 lines)

but I get the idea.

Paste the following 3 lines into an empty text file (using notepad) and save as DatePatch.reg

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B7319A93-DF12-494A-9F75-452C6B4CEFFF}]
"InstallDate"=-

double clicking on this file will wipe out the date value - converting it to a registered program (for the next 24 hours... then repeat).
