You know, I'm not ungrateful or anything - because I really do love GOTD - but c'mon I expected that by now at least an admin would've posted telling me what day I can download all this stuff.

It's been over 5 hours now and nobody has given me any of the stuff I want, I'm beginning to think that they are ignoring me (or they are scared). I'll give you a few more hours and if I don't see some action - I'm going to put in my blog how fake this site is - and I will not recommend this site to my readers (My dad, my brother and three of the guys I work with).

GOTD will regret messing with me. Otherwise GOTD can make me an admin or a moderator because I know lots of stuff - and I have my own web page on myspace too - but it is private because I don't want stupid people to steal my secrets.

Clock's ticking - go get my free stuff. Or I'll be like a bad doctor, and lose my patients.

'REALITY'?? Hey - If it will makes people happy - I'll ask for a few things too...

I want Photoshop CS2 (with a free upgrade to CS3) a Free Vista Ultimate (not interested in the cheapy versions - they suck), the latest Microsoft Office - all of the Half Life, Counterstrike and related Source games, a free copy of World of Warcraft (with free game play for the next 12 months).

I would also like all of the EA Sports games, Command and Conquer 3, World in Conflict (not released yet - but I'm prepared to wait) and Supreme commander.

Also to top it all off - when giveawayoftheday starts giving away free computer hardware - I need more hard drive space to store everything, a bigger LCD monitor, a faster cpu... and a new girlfriend (a real one - not the sort you download).

That's all for now... I'm working on a more complete list, but that will have to wait until this weekend. Now go get my stuff. ;]

To date all of the programs & games given away have been from small lesser-known companies.

Obviously the purpose in giving away the software is a cheap form of advertising so the company becomes better known.

The larger software companies have less reason or need to do this as people would know about their products without the assistance of GOTD.

As such, as much as it would save me some money - getting a free & licensed copy of something from Adobe, Microsoft, Autodesk, Blizzard, Electronic Arts or Valve is remote at best. The above companies also have advertising budgets running into the millions of $$$.

I'd love to be proven wrong - but I'm sure the above companies have more experience at people getting giveaway copies of their software through other channels - and the word of mouth advertising that accompanies this is probably all the publicity they want.

With many games, upgrades and support are fairly non-existent once the game is off the charts, and the publishing company has moved onto newer and more profitable titles.

The other obstacle is the download sizes of these applications. GOTD has not yet given away anything much over 20-30MB. Some of the larger commercial titles would require a download over 1GB.

Knowing the above it becomes a little easier to understand why yesterdays Giveaway was a "screensaver" and today a "clock".
