jadag... I never unzip mine. Well Windows XP uncompress (zipped) folder utility automatically does this when I open a zip file (and it shows the activation and readme file too). I do have WinZip v9 (registered) too. But I mainly only use it to create zip files.

Thank you everybody for your suggestions. I eventually solved the problem as follows;
If I double-click on the Zip file, it shows me the setup.exe which I clicked and it set the program up in the folder I selected.However it did not activate.

This was incorrect. I had to UNZIP the file into a temporary folder first THEN I had to click the activate.exe file and only then the setup.exe program.

All's well that ends well.

Annie, just ignore the "enter the serial number comment" - you only need to run the activate.exe to activate/register you copy. Check your help-about box to make sure it is registered to "Giveawayoftheday" with a "personal license".

I entered the serial in manually.

Just said it will lose trial tag after closing application.

However it was registered after following my usual route.

Just as an aside, normally it is advised to activate the software prior to running setup.

This is because some programs do not activate correctly if the program is running at the same time (or they may not recognize the activation until the program is restarted). In addition, some programs can still be running via an icon in the system tray - so users might incorrectly believe they have closed the program - and as a result the activation would fail (or not work until the program was restarted).

Therefore either make 100% sure the program isn't running (Check task manager) when you run activate.exe - or run activate.exe before setup.exe

Jadag,

When you installed it, did you activate it first, then do the set up? If so, even if there's not a small box that pops up, right after I hit activate, I always get sent to a page from GOTD that says, "Now that you've activated..." Sometimes I get a small box, sometimes I don't, but that web page never fails to show. With this you don't get a registration number or anything like that, you just activate, then set up, and you should get a full-blown program, not a trial. If I'm unsure about a program and think it might still be a trial version, I go to the Help, About, and check to make sure it's registered to Giveawayoftheday.

I hope this helps. If you already have done what I wrote, then I would re-download the program and try again, something might have gone wrong. I don't use Winrar or anything like that for my zip files, but when I download a program from here, I make sure I open the file, I don't save it to disk when first downloading. When the program opens, I hit File, Extract All. Only after the files are extracted do I try to activate and install. You probably know all this and I'm not trying to be patronizing. Just trying to help, just in case. So, with all this, I hope that I helped you out.

Cindy

Followed instructions and program was installed, however this is only a trial version. Usually a small activation notification pops up when installing. This did not appear this time. How can I activate it? I don't want to spend hours enetring stuff only to have it crippled in 30 days or whatever.

Thanks
