They do quite clearly explain their refund policy - and they also provide software for free evaluation.

http://www.abyssmedia.com/refundpolicy.shtml
Note: I removed the name of the second product you installed, as it is a commercial product and competitor to ISound - and including that (as well as this being your first forum post) makes your "complaint" sound more like an advertisement than a legitimate complaint about the abyssmedia refund policy.

Don't buy this software...it is a scam. I did, wasn't satisfied the next day (computer started freezing). Reply I got was that it was impossible. Deleted it and installed *name removed*. Works perfect but no refund from ISound. Use it if it's free but don't buy!!

Hi, leeq,

I think there is no simple "yes" or "no".

For a slight update (from ver. 3.8.4 to 3.8.7) I usually just put the new version on top.
With a step from ver. 1.01. to 3.8. I would install it from scratch.
Your chosen preferences in the old version are lost when you install completely new and they could be lost when you put a new version on top; so - try to save them.

When I have any problems with an old version, I would always delete it and all its remnants before I install the new version.

Otherwise, like Dragonlair said, most programmes will tell you what to do.

Your first thing - if you have data associated with an old version is to back up the data. That way you at least don't lose things.

Most software is designed to upgrade OVER the existing install. In the few cases where you need to uninstall first, the install instructions usually specify this.

If you aren't sure about upgrading from a previous version, should you
a) always uninstall the old version first?
b) try to install new version and you may or may not get a warning to uninstall the old version first.

Can either of these methods create conflicting registry files?
Which method is better if you have data files associated with the old version?

For those of ya'll that the update messed up, go here and install it again or if AWC3 is in free mode just install the code listed.
The code still works I just tried it on W7 and didn't have any problems.

One night when I was too tired to realize I made the mistake of clicking the download that was part of the WAC logo. After it opened I realized that was not what I meant to do but thought, oh well, I'll give it try. My mistake.
It would not allow me to complete the download of what I really wanted on your website. At first I didn't realize that the AWC program was the problem. I kept getting the message, when trying to open the key to register the program I really wanted, it kept reporting cannot connect to (desired prog) to register.
I was too tired to pursue. It was a week later before I saw a new offering that I wanted to try, got the same results. I used Revo to delete AWC. I'm still having problems trying to reg. any program from your site. Still keep getting msg. cannot connect to register program.
Would leftover bits of AWC be giving me this trouble?
What else can I try? XXXXXX at gmail.com ms. finley

Well Face, you probably don't have any firewall, anti-virus, or anti-adware protection programs running under safe mode. And especially without a firewall (either a hardware one or a software one), a hacker could gain access to your computer while you are online. And they could possibly install very nasty programs that you won't even know is running in the background.

have a AWC rerun, perhaps??

or maybe for those who havn't done the update, backup your registry into a file first before installing the updated AWC as when anything goes wrong, e.g. AWC went into trial mode, you can jus install the already backup registry file on your system. that way, the updated AWC shd register itself again.

@ AlexSJ - I jus registered another AWC on my notebook. first I install the reg file containing the user and password den install the AWC(the older version). den i did the upgrade. works perfectly- NEVER enter the code found on the "About" page on a NEW AWC program. I learnt that from the prev AWC giveaway. IT doesn't REGISTER! I've tried it but failed... i suppose bcos it checks back to its server to see if its valid or not

I saw the other thread and was a bit hesistant to download at first. Followed Alexiussg loose instructions "but after AWC autodownload the v2.5, I went into the folder its folder, usually it will be C:\Program Files\IObit\Advanced WindowsCare V2 Pro\ and copy out the setup.exe and manually install it. I cancel the auto install. " (see thread June 16th) and copy is still registered correctly.
Version now is 2.5.0.913
I guess in essence, don't run the auto update, but rather the setup. Sorry, know that doesn't help now, but perhaps some others
Pura Vida

I don't know how you did it, but my readme.txt file doesnt have any passwords and I always write them when I can. I ran the program, asked for update and I got the non-registered message. I reinstalled Avvanced Windows that I had before the updating and got no registration key. Now all I got is a trial version which I have unisntalled already.

I'll never again follow intructions that promise things that are not true.
I'm with you lwbjag. I got my shotgun ready.

Install the version you had before updating.

Then it should appear as it's not in the registry and I cannot tell you exactly where it is as I am not allowed to.
