This giveaway has been deactivated after the latest update.
It´s the third update i think.
Retyping the serial number worked the last two updates.

After this update none of the serials works anymore.
I get an error message that all free activations have been taken.

Please fix this error or repost the giveaway with new serials.

I also could try to downgrade. I saved the update files. But i don´t think this will help.

Downgrade didn´t work and the original giveaway installer didn´t work either.
The error message is still the same.

Please fix the licences or repost the giveaway with new and working serials.

Hi Keriver,

Thank you for answering my question. I was confused because I have both versions installed at the same time. The default directory and Start menu names are not the same as the ones of the old installation. To be sure I am going to uninstall both versions and install the new one from scratch.

Thank you for setting me straight,

Hi Face,

Q. Just one question - should we uninstall the old version before downloading the new one?

A. You don't need uninstall the old version before downloading the new one. But, you should uninstall it before you install the new one.

Hi pauloparra,

1) The previous version needed a running Windows Service. This Service doesn't exist anymore. Is that normal?
The service still exists, but, in fact, it's only necessary for windows VISTA.

2) With the original Keriver we got a number of support files, like an ISO recovery image, Help files, AutoRun.exe, isolinux, etc. Are they still valid? Do we need to get new ones?
Because the Recovery Media Builder is added, so, those files isn't needed. And, by the way, do you think that's better if I still include those file in the package in the future?

3) There were Keriver backups files that I can explore now, but couldn't explore before. Are there new options or features we should be aware of?
I don't know why you couldn't EXPLORE before, but now you could, that's fine. -:)

Thanks keriver, for your generosity in allowing us to upgrade - It is that kind of attitude, along with your support in following us here in the Forums - that makes all the difference when I go to purchase software. GOTD really lets us get to know which companies value their customers and stand behind ther products and these are the ones I choose to spend my money on.

Hello,

Thank you AlexSJ, fellow Mojopac user, for giving me the confidence to try this upgrade. Now I see the purpose of saving all the files from GAOTD. When a serial number is needed, I always save it in the readme.txt file, so all I had to do was to open it to access the serial number. Good deal!

The process was very simple. Download the executable from the link that Keriver posted in the first post of this thread. Run it. Reboot. Run Keriver and input the serial number when prompted. That's it!

I am aware of the lack of tech support, but I am curious about a few things.

1) The previous version needed a running Windows Service. This Service doesn't exist anymore. Is that normal?

2) With the original Keriver we got a number of support files, like an ISO recovery image, Help files, AutoRun.exe, isolinux, etc. Are they still valid? Do we need to get new ones?

3) There were Keriver backups files that I can explore now, but couldn't explore before. Are there new options or features we should be aware of?

It sure looks like this new release of Keriver is a great improvement!

Thanks,

-Mario

PS: I want to explain, to anyone who cares, the reason why I need to be confident about the upgrade.

I have MojoPac, which is very unstable software. Installing a simple program on it may make it unusable, so I back it up before installing any new program which is pretty much everyday. My MojoPac is installed on a 60GB Passport drive which, for some strange reason, came formated with FAT32 file system.

If I change the file system to NTFS I lose one of three free installations per license that RingCube allows. This means that I can't use the regular ntbackup directly because all my computer disks use NTFS. I needed a program that was able to backup an entire FAT32 disk and restore it.

I tried several, XXcopy, DriveImage XML, Backup4all3, DoubleSafety, ... and it came very clear that Keriver was the best. Easy to use, fast backups, recovery of entire drives that use any file system, explore ability, compresion choices, ...
On top of all that, you guys give free tech support even though we are not entitle to it.

Hi FranckW,

I downloaded it and I am thinking about doing the returnil thing so that if something goes wrong, I can go back to the previous version, but I am swamped with work and can't do it right now. Do we have to install the upgrade today?

From the wording of the message it looks like we can upgrade anytime, but one can't never be too sure. I don't think I'll be able to try until tomorrow. I hope it is ok to try it then!

Hello,

I too had problems with Hard Disk Inspector NE. I had to uninstall and reinstall the program a few times before I could activate it successfully. And recently, another problem has creeped up.

I was exploring the various links / options in the program, and tried to 'Check for updates ..' link. Sure, there was an update, which I downloaded and installed. But now I have the problem of registration again!!! How do I activate this, or atleast, go back to the previously functioning version??

I'd appreciate a quick support / help in this regard.

I've read and read and read many conspircy theory's about Mr. Bill. Most are BS. Of course they need data from your pc to assist in the future. When a program closes because of an error, do you know where the report goes? It goes to MS. Then when you update, most likely there is a fix.

I never had a problem with them knowing. Everyone would be scared if they actually knew what the government has been doing and since the Patriot Act, well lets say there isn't much that isn't at someones finger tips.

Don't worry about it alexiussg. You won't be giving anyone anything that you haven't already. Just be safe and thanks for the note.

What's even better is that most of the information Softpedia's crying about... gets given by every browser. Don't believe me? Every browser sends out information similar to this:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4
This is on EVERY page request. Sure, some add-ons/extensions and some proxies will remove this data, but it is more useful than detrimental, and it definitely does not uniquely identify you, so why the paranoia about it? In fact, leaving the language detail in there is highly beneficial to anyone who doesn't speak English, as websites can (and will, e.g. Google) switch their pages to the appropriate language (or redirect you to the appropriate page) without you having to figure out where the language toggle is - or register and log-in to do so, which many people would likely not even bother to do.

alexiussg, if you're really worried about people getting your IP, you're better off to just unplug. Tor will also go faster, by the way, as you can adjust it. JAP seems to be just a big show plus an on/off switch. Not something I'd trust...
Also, using public proxies not only can get you preemptively banned from somewhere, but are completely useless for logging in anywhere as they can (Yes, even with SSL) easily intercept your data: You're giving it to them.

re: Scary 20+ applications from vista... blah blah meh.

Stop the press. Same type of info gets sent or obtained when running any Microsoft OS since Win95. Most of it isn't an issue - like when you obtain drivers for new hardware from Microsoft, they know what hardware you are installing. Well yeah...

When you connect to Microsoft, they can get your IP address - and the type of browser you are using... OMG

These are examples of user data that the evil Microsoft is harvesting, right under our noses.

And the claim that user data is "harvested and sent to Microsoft" when you use "Device Manager", "Plug and Play" or even "Driver Protection" is just... well... where do they get people to write these articles?

I'll make sure next time I "send an error report" to Microsoft, or run "Windows Update" I don't accidentally type my middle name or mention where my kids attend school or how much money I donate to charity.

Same thing happened to me with mymovie(?) and I couldn't access my database of movies I spent days building. It was a version of the program with a glick that the company only used for GOTD so they didn't even have the file for me to download to gelt my database back.

I'm not sure what your "second question is" - you only asked one question.

two questions
what does "bump" mean
what does "Here is a bump of another thread from the same company kevinyunlai :)"
I'm not joking, I'm kind of new to this country and my English is not too well
anyways,
Desktop Icon Toy turned back into trial to me too Swan
I'm not complaining, because I did not like it that much, but the point is we are not getting full version, just extended trial
I'm guessing that companies do this on purpose
1. if you are "complaining", means that you like the software and that you might buy it (they are completely wrong....)
2. if you are not "complaining", then it means you don't like/need the software so it does not matter if it works or not
