Hey All,

I have been pretty busy lately but I finally got around to adapting the Giveaway of the day wordpress theme to a bbPress theme. You can view it here. I am looking for feedback on it before I submit to the owners to see if they like it.

So if you could visit and create an account and give me some feed back over there that would be great!

Thanks,

Jaddis

Well, my experience is, that not very many users make any effort to find answers by their own. It's more convenient to open a new thread and ask again why they cannot reinstall the GOTD.
Stickies or not - the convenience (or should I say "laziness") will always win.

Maybe the looks are a bit dull - well, I like the plain design. Like WR I'm thankful that here are no blinking avatars and signatures and millions of smilies (I like them in private messages - though).
However, I would like a better functionality.

Regarding the stickies yes we can unsticky or sticky what we want but personally I think everything stickied is important. If an important topic many people need to read isn't stickied then many won't find it and create a new topic asking how to do something instead of searching for the answer.

Few graphics and focused on CONTENT. That's what I LIKE about this board. However, I do have to agree that there may be a few too many stickys.

That sounds cool Jaddis; unfortunately we volunteers are not allowed to tweak the site. I would do as Chip suggested and contact the owners directly with your suggestion.

Personally I have no problem with the look of the forum. It's refreshingly void of stuff that I see on many other forums like advertisements and other banners , heders and foot notes.

Chip,

Just out of curiosity if someone was to provide you with a different theme (say one based off of the Giveaway of the day wordpress theme)could you or one of the admins who volunteer here apply it? I have though about doing that in the past but was not sure if anyone would be interested or able to implement it once I made it. I have had a good deal of experience with this in the past and would enjoy making a custom theme for this forum.

Thanks,

Thanks Dragon.
I'd like to add there's also the possibility of using the keyboard pressing
ctrl + or crtl - (in both IE and FF) if you don't have a mouse.

For easiness on the eyes, a temporary fix in Firefox and Internet Explorer (I haven't tested it in other browsers) is to click the Ctrl key on your keyboard and while holding it down, use the wheel (that doubles as the middle button in most modern mouse) by rolling (turning) it towards the front of the device (in other words, away from you) until you find the desired setting that is confortable for you then releasing the key when you like what you see.

You do the same thing but turning the wheel towards you to reduce it back to normal!

You may have to experiment a bit to find the correct setting while changing web sites as they are NOT all created equal in size.

Regards

I find the forum ok but might I suggest fewer stickies? Couldn't most of them either be included in the FAQ or simply made un-sticky?

Hello Turvy and welcome to our forums! We are run by volunteer moderators and administrators and neither of us can do anything about the appearance. The actual GOTD staff do visit occasionally but I cannot guarantee they will see your suggestion here. If you wish to suggest a new forum design to them please use their contact form.

Hi,

Just a suggestion.. (Obviously)

Discount this, and please show me how, if there is a way,
But could the forum be a little easier on the eye? To read?

The way it is presented isn't all that pleasant (to me)

In past months GAOTD Team has received numerous requests in which you asked to share our WP theme. But, because of some technical difficulties it was impossible. Until this very moment!

We are proud to present the very first version of the Giveaway of the Day WordPress theme (Giveaway of the Day 1.0).
