CSD reveals hundreds of sites stealing browser history
The bug exploits the way that many browsers handle links people have visited. Many change the colour of the text to reflect that earlier visit.

A lawsuit filed in federal court last week alleges that a group of well-known Web sites, including those owned by Disney, Warner Bros. Records, and Demand Media, broke the law by secretly tracking the Web movements of their users, including children.
"Flash cookies on (affiliate site) users' computers...online tracking device(s) which would allow access to and disclosure of Internet users' online activities."

I'd be interested in knowing a little about the Giveaway website traffic stats. Whenever I encounter new software or developers, I fire off a letter asking them to contact the Giveaway team.

The only stats available come from a single testimonial regarding goCRM software. It would be very helpful if other information about website traffic was posted; I could use it in letters to the new software developers, as additional incentive to contact Slava and the team!

Ben,
This is a problem I know nothing about, but have you tried what often works for me, which is a google adding the words problem and forum?
So I googled: HotSpot UAE etisalat problem forum, and got quite a few results, some of which may be useful to you e.g.

http://archives.seul.org/or/talk/Apr-2007/msg00052.html

Dear Members,
I am new to this forum.

I am UAE based and here etisalat people have blocked the major sites already.
I was using HotSpot Shield(VPN Software) in order to access the blocked sites
and it was working amazingly.

Suddenly last couple of days, it started giving problems. It stopped opening
orkut and became extremly slow and now when i try to open any messenger anything
it is not opening any website and very slow. I am unsure, is HotSpot shield has
gone from UAE and we are again in a misery.

If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to share.

Thanks,
Ben

Ok, the VSO example:
http://www.vso-software.fr/certification/certification.html
A page hosted on the main VSO site
http://www.vso-software.fr/ - stating that "SerialDealers" are a legitimate reseller.

Come to think of it, wasn't East-Tec eraser also GAOTD'd?

On that basis, maybe Smart-projects (IsoBuster) and Alcohol soft (Alcohol) may be worth approaching, as it would seem all these companies look at novel distribution methods to supplement their main market which seems to consist of those already "in the know".

The serialdealer model has advantages and disadvantages - main downsides compared to GAOTD are that it's not free and the licence is only 1 year.

@ Theleecher- you have to pay for the membership plan. exchange rate not flavourable here for me in euros! and i don't have a credit card also. therefore, prefer this website(GAOTD) instead :) and recomend it to my friends(by word of mouth, blog site etc).

I didn't visit their site but I have one of VSO's products. When it checks for updates and it finds one, your browser opens and you download it straight from them. Depending on the version update, you may have to email them to get another registration number. I had to do this on 2 occasions. The last time, I contacted the support dept. and they said that it was because of serial leaks.

I would make real sure by contacting the actual vendor before purchasing any serial off a site. You could lose alittle money that way. Does that sound right or is it just me?

According to their "How it works" page, support from the developer may be restricted, and also the software cannot be used for commercial purposes (personal use only).

They don't state if there are any restrictions on upgrades to future versions. Interesting marketing approach though, "Why risk downloading cracked software which could contain viruses, spyware or could even damage your system when you can get it directly from Serial Dealers?" - at least it's clear who their target market is.

Didn't visit the site, but a URL like "serialdealers" makes me think Warez.

--

did a quick look at it, and I'd still prefer to pay the manufacturer/retailer directly for software.

Compared to GOTD, they are:
1. Cheap but not free (basic member = 5 credits / 5 EU, Gold member = 15 credits / 25 EU) - looks like both can then re-buy credits at the same rate, so the Gold member is just a 10 EU fee to jump the queue.
2. 1 year licences, where GOTD tend to be "limited lifetime" (install on the day, keep as long as you can).

I see VSO (did Blindwrite here) are also on there, maybe other companies on there would be worth approaching for GOTD.

I think the problem is at your end Haajee. I've used it every day for both downloads without problems (most recently 5 minutes ago) - I only check the mirror site if someone suggests there is a problem with it (which there wasn't).

Still if you can still get the software from the mirror link, I guess that's what it's there for.

Ultimately you have to go for "Mirror link #1".
