Thanks for your help. I tried something today and it worked!!! I started the game as usual and I couldn't see the bottom of the game screen... so I thought... what about starting a new character?? So I did, and it worked. Now I see the entire game screen. Full screen, Window... it's all good now!

Out of curiosity, I quit my 2nd character and 'resumed' the 1st one I created. Ha, same messed up screen. So obviously something is not working right with my 1st character game settings.

Oh well, it just means I have to go through everything again to get to the same point where I ended up, but at least I can keep playing the game. :)

Thanks for your suggestion about QRes. I downloaded it and will keep it.

I looked at the game's configuration files for my version of the game (MPC) and saw there was no option to manually set the screen resolution, which I was hoping you could do. It seems only to toggle between window or full screen and the resolution I noted in the log files was 1360x768, which might explain the bad fit on your 1280x1024 screen. I can't explain why one version worked better than the other except to guess that the version you got from the dev might have been a newer bug fixed version with better screen res detection. As for the the game knowing your settings, that would be due to the games settings folder created in your user directory (I can't tell you where that is, I'm on different pc now).

For what it's worth, I use a classic freeware utility to automatically change the screen resolution when necessary, usually for old windowed games that appear too tiny on a modern screen (a 640x480 window isn't large enough to use on a 1920x1080 screen).

I drop the qres.exe in the windows folder so it can be accessed from anywhere then I use a batch file to launch the game, placing the batch file in the game folder and then creating a shortcut to it.

A batch file is a plain text file with a .bat extension, with each line being a separate "command line", to create one you can use most any text editor and save the file as *.bat instead of *.txt.

An example I'd use would look like the following, where the screen resolution is changed to whatever is desired in the first line, then the game is run, and when the game exits the original screen resolution is restored.

qres.exe /x:1024 /y:768
"C:\games\jongg\oldbutgood\game.exe"
qres.exe /x:1920 /y:1080

I'm not saying the qres solution is for you, but if you chose to use it you would probably want to set your resolution higher than your default resolution in the first line, if possible, using a size and screen ratio appropriate for your monitor.

I played todays game free for 1 hour from the developers site. (in Full screen mode on XP). I ended up liking it and downloaded the game from the GOTD site.

It downloaded ok. It unzipped ok. It installed ok. Opened ok but with one exception... the game screen is missing a part of the game that I know should be there. At the bottom it should have the Help, an Amulet (or something like that), and a small section where I keep pieces that I found, ie: key, bowl, book pages, etc.(to help me further in the game.)

I tried changing from Full screen to Window but it didn't help. I changed it back and forth a couple of times to make sure!

Not sure what to do to fix the problem... so I uninstalled the game. Deleted the contents of the folder except the MysteryofMortlakeMansion.zip file. Had Glary Utilities check for registry problems, broken links. Unzipped it again, Installed it again.

Strange how the game knew my name and the option to Resume was available. hmmmm. But anyways... The problem still exists!! I still cannot see the bottom inch +- of the game screen.

I would rather not mess around with the everyday resultion of my monitor which is always set at 1280 x 1024 by changing it to play this game. but I have never had this problem with any games before. Usually the resolution changes automatically and back again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In case it helps, configuration settings/data is stored in 2 files: "settings.ini" in the game's program folder [\Playrix Entertainment\Call of Atlantis\] & "GameInfo.xml" [again \Playrix Entertainment\Call of Atlantis\] under All Users\ Application Data\ [XP] or ProgramData [win7]... both are editable in Notepad. There's also a Log folder in the latter, but the log.htm file it holds may not be a great deal of help, e.g. when it wouldn't run in the XP Mode VM with [& I think because of] no real D3D support, it reads:

If you cannot access the option tab to untick full screen,press Alt+Enter to enable windowed mode.

Having screen flip problem. Usually I can find the pointer and got o options to remove the full screen. On this I cannot.
Is there any way to force the program to open in window mode?

Hey, it's not bad actually. I like the day night cycling. At first I thought the actual earth features were made up as I couldn't make out any land features until it started to go dark then I saw the outlinre of Africa and Europe then Asia. The actual sunrise is very effective.

The actual quality of graphics is okay, but I think that this is an older screensaver, hence it being given away free. Despite the graphics not being asd good as for example the Solar System Earth 3D screensaver that we got free via the giveawy project, it's still good enought to stay on my computer.

I've installed this screen capture tool and used it since it was given away and today when i try to run it it asks for serial number!!! What do i do??

Also try running dxdiag to see if it can come up with any solutions or reproducible errors.

Try to run the games again and check if they work or if the Blue Screen can be reproduced "on demand".

There is mention in some other threads about a directX file that was missing - some people already have the file - others had to source it themselves. I think if you are missing that file - the game won't start at all.

I installed Libellus and Surakarta around 6 am this morning and sometime between 8 am and 1 pm (when I got back to my computer) a blue screen Stop Error was on my computer. The message said this was a serious Error. This has never happened before so I'm assuming it's from one of these programs. My pop up web page said this could be caused by the wrong drivers being installed. During install of one of the programs (I don't remember which but I think it was Surakarta) I got some kind of message about DirectX and also a directory wasn't found. I'm assuming the DirectX might have been the issue but I don't think DirectX is a driver. GAOTD, do one of these programs need updated drivers. I have Windows XP and I haven't had too many problems installing your programs(and no scary ones like this). I haven't installed anything else after I installed these 2 programs and wasn't using my computer when the Blue Screen occurred. I know my computer was functioning at 8 am because I turned the alarm off and left.

I have downloaded both of the Biathlon games, installed and activated both games with no problem but I cannot get either one to get past the intro screen. At the end of the intro, instead of going to the next screen to begin the game It takes me back to the set up file page. Does anybody know how to fix this problem? If so, please leave a comment with instructions. Thanks a million!

Maybe i was tired or maybe it was coincidence. As far as I know there is no tv tuner in my computer, but it's happened more than once. Laugh if you like. I know it sounds crazy!

The TV goes fuzzy and the screen starts shaking? That happens to me sometimes but usually only when I haven't slept for more than 24 hours, and I've had too much caffeine and sugar. :P

I've never heard of a particular program running on your PC that affects your television reception (unless you have a TV tuner card inside your PC).

I have the same problem! I thought mine might be related to the tv, too. the tv will go fuzzy and the screen starts shaking!

I have the same problem but it only occurs when I watch TV at the same time. I think tjchan is correct and it is a video card problem.

I agree with hyrumdenney, it isn't part of the game as I had a little while ago downloaded the demo and played the game for an hour and didn't have the shaking in that and also on the bonus levels it won't let you shoot at all the rows available which again was fine in the demo version. I downloaded another demo of this game from a different website and again it worked fine so it isn't part of the game neither can it be the video drivers.

Yes, i must retract my earlier comment, to agree with lwbjag, yesssssssssss it is part of the game once you get to a certain level and get either the lightening, or the cannon, but it does stop!
