Trying to download Foxtab PDF Converter.

Every time I hit the Finish button, I get the following error message: "Printer installation error - 1601 (0)".

I've searched the internet with Google and found a few other people have encountered the error, but no solutions. I turned off ZoneAlarm and MalwareBytes, but same result.

I ran the download with the Advanced option to avoid Bing and (if I remember correctly) Chrome, as well as the Shopping coupons etc. I trust this didn't make a difference.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions. I have some very conversion resistant PDF files I need to convert.

I thank you for your help in advance. I very much appreciate it.

PDF Composer was given away on GAOTD on April 11, 2011. It activated fine and I even used it that day and the next(I have a PDF I made through it Dated April 12 at 12:22 AM), but now I went to use it and it went back to an evaluation copy and outputs watermarks on the PDF's like it says the trial does.

Is anyone else having this problem? Or is it just me?

So I was looking for a pdf decrypter last night and I found this giveaway that I though I would share. We are almost at the end of it, but if you don't already have one of these it could come in handy

You do not have to sign up for anything to get it. All you have to do is download the file and then install it. The licence key is displayed on the giveaway page where you downloaded the file from. Don't be confused by the page that opens up after the install asking you to buy the product. You do not have to buy it.

The licence key info and the download link are located here.

Microsoft tool blocks attacks on Adobe Reader hole
On Friday, Microsoft published instructions on how to use the Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) to block the zero day hole in Acrobat Reader. Adobe has not yet published a patch itself, but recently added a link to Microsoft's instructions on its web site. Because of the lack of time, Adobe says it has not been able to test Microsoft's procedure fully, so recommends further testing in your own work environment.

Adobe has categorised the vulnerability as critical (CVE-2010-2883)

http://www.h-online.com/security/news/item/DLL-hole-now-affects-EXE-files-1076847.html

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/09/10/email_worm_spreading/

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/09/08/adobe_reader_0day/

Researchers have uncovered sophisticated attack code circulating on the net that exploits a critical vulnerability in the most recent version of Adobe Reader.

The click-and-get-hacked exploit spreads through email that contains a booby-trapped PDF file that remains virtually undetected by most anti-virus programs

http://www.kaspersky.com/news?id=207576178

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that it has cooperated with Microsoft in successfully closing a serious vulnerability in Microsoft Windows.

The vulnerability was classified as being of the ‘zero-day’ type when it was detected, and has been used by the notorious Stuxnet worm. Worm.Win32.Stuxnet is remarkable in that it is basically an industrial espionage tool: it is designed to gain access to the Siemens WinCC operating system which is responsible for data collection and monitoring production.

How far back are we supposed to keep all those update files? When I go to Windows Explorer/C:/Windows, there's a list that's miles long and some seem to go back to 2005!! They seem to have the word "uninstall" in them.

hotdoge3 - I found the discrepancies in the links. The first one, on vulnerabilities in .pdf applications, should be http://www.h-online.com/open/news/item/Vulnerabilities-in-several-PDF-applications-833449.html

hotdoge3 - the first link, to the h online story on pdf vulnerabilities, and the link to the story on Firefox blocking/unblocking the MS add-on, lead to 404s. Not sure why, as the pdf story, anyway, is still up over there, and the other links are ok.
