This game is an 'adventure' type game. Adventure games usually has some puzzle solving, an interactive story, and some exploration. You usually have an inventory and the ability to use and combine items to solve puzzles. This game uses a 3rd person point-click-interface and you are trying to solve a mystery. Other adventure games can include text-based input or a command interface. For additional information you can read this Wikipedia Article on adventure games.

Me again...umm, this is weird, in my comment, I NEVER wrote the sentence that begins,

"Also thanks for reminding me of the reloaded site. I had the site down in my bookmarks but lost it due to a format ages ago :) Thanks!"

I DID NOT write that. HOW did someone access my account and alter my posting??????
GRRRRRR

(I have never formated anything and wouldn't know where to begin for one thing, which is rather ironic..)

Merri , who is feeling spooked out....
:(

Thanks rO, looking forwards to playing this. I've not posted a point and click for ages, so this is going to be a refreshing change. B.t.w. thanks for reminding me of the reloaded site. I had the site down in my bookmarks but lost it to a format ages ago. :)
Thanks!

Regards

here's another link to the uncertainty machine I had this game down as a project certainty. But totally forgot about it - I posted quite a few point and click games ages ago, so put it to one side for a later day; there's an interview with the developer included:

Today, I have an adventure game called The Uncertainty Machine. The game takes place in the near future where society has been divided into 'Citizens' who live in luxury and 'Off Limits' people who are cast out of society. The story starts you off as a newspaper reporter investigating a simple burglary. But soon the simple burglary evolves into a much larger and darker conspiracy. The story is a bit slow at the start when you're just investigating the burglary but picks up later. This game takes place over 2 days and should only take a few hours to complete depending on if you get stuck.

The game is easy to control with a simple point and click interface using the mouse. Left clicks acts as a all-purpose 'action' button and right clicks lets you look at objects and inventory items. Your inventory is shown at the top of the screen. Travelling around to different locations is easy because you have a map that you can look at (right-click) to instantly travel to all the locations that you have found.

Controls:
Left click - Action button (move, talk, pick up/use items, etc.)
Right click - Look at objects/examine inventory items
F1 - help menu
F9 - save/load/quit menu
