Just set Third-party cookies to no,a third-party cookie is a cookie from a site that you not on so you don't need it,in 8 hour's only have 10 with Firefox in IE is nill, in IE > Privacy >Advanced > override automatic cooke handing all to Block yes fist & third pardy cookies untick allow session cookies no,do this to all,log out hit ctrl-alt-delete two times & tipe in Administrator Enter & do the same or they will jump over PS only do this if you don't use IE & use Firefox & host file, spywareBlaster so on is a help.

sounds like you got some spyware get avg to remove them quick: http://free.avg.com free or full will work fine when you finish intalling then restart update then open main dubble click on resedint shield click scan tracing cookies and remove automatically this will show a little message in the right corner of your screen when you to that site that it has been detected and deleted another way to test this is download firefox http://firefox.com it gives you 1 tracking cookie every time you open it if you did this right avg will detect it it should just give you a little message in the right corner and then if it does its deleted and if you really wanna find some then go scan whole computer/slow scan and let it scan over night this could take all night so let it do that when you are just doing a normal scan do auto so if it needs to slow down so your computer does not it will or if it can spped up not effecting anything.

It appears you missed the point I was getting at - if you have some form of spyware or similar installed on your computer. You will probably get that cookie appearing REGARDLESS whichever website you go to.

Anyway if you are happy you have fixed your spyware problem on your PC, I'll close this.

Point is the cookie will keep coming back until you get rid of the additional baggage spyware/toolbar/add-on that is putting the cookie up.

If I turn off absolutely all spyware protection, ad filtering, and disable all add-ons - I still cannot get that cookie to appear when surfing around this site. Which leads me to the conclusion your PC has something "special" about it that nobody else's does.

In terms of what software I am (normally) running - AdAware Plus, Spybot S&D, SpywareBlaster, Spyware Terminator, AdMuncher, and NOD32. I've got lots of other stuff that I use when needed, but these are the products running 24x7.

OK. I suggest you remove the cookies completely. Then open ONLY one of your "several websites". If the cookie re-appears, you can "take it up with yourself". :)

generally i don;t have much of a prob with spyware...which was why i found it rather surprising to keep getting hit with this thing after visiting your site..
not even saying it is this site's fault...hence the question, wt is up widdat? in my original query.
got adaware running at the moment, see if i find it again.
i wouldn't care if not for it's persistence; i don't like things "backdooring" my machine under any circumstance, and generally things that return after a throurough scrubbing of caches and a reboot make me wonder...sorry to have given you offense, as that seems to be how it was taken.

i just physically DELETED every reference to it in my machine, again before going online and coming here.
from what i've gleaned from google, it's a company that keeps track of banner advertisements.
it lists as a dataminer.
and it definitely screws up the pc's connection.
perhaps i need to take this up with the old ISP instead.
so perhpas you are right.

Blocking the cookie won't fix a spyware problem though.

You can block this cookie from your system through your internet options.

Absolutely not even one single request for revsci.net. In fact, after visiting this site several times in the past (who would've guessed) I still don't have a revsci cookie on my PC.

Several other cookies - but nothing else. I think your little problems are yours alone.

Always a good thing to check your facts before throwing around accusations. I suggest you scan your PC with a decent antispyware program. Then visit microsoft.com or google.com and see if they also have your revsci.net spyware. Go bother them - because I cannot replicate your spyware cookie claims on this site.

cookies that track surfing habits and "phone home" are most DEFINITLY "spyware"...
they aren;t being used to identify a computer...they are designed to track people and spy on them.
i own several websites, and i don;t spy on any of the people that visit them.
indeed, most sites that DO track people don;t have long life expectancies when people find out.
big difference between harmless "cookies" and stuff that spys on people.

every time i visit GAOTD, i get hit with a tracking cookie form revsci.net...
i mean EVERY SINGLE TIME, and it is [snipped] off.
i remove it with anti malware scanners, physically delete the file, and it's a persistant one...that only shows up while visiting/after visiting this site,
and i think it's rather lame...hence the querie, [snipped] is up widdat??
