Thanks for trying. Even if it does work with firewall turned off, don't think I'd feel good about using it that way. I'm going to download and re-install it fresh "tomorrow" before I give up unless someone else comes up with a good idea.

Gotta be up to grab a last-one-on-display laptop super-bargain when the store opens at 10am in the morning, so I have to pack it in for a few hours. Found it by computer inventory at a store on one side of town, but it is at their other store 20 miles across town and it was 30 min. to closing. They would not hold it for me or let me charge it by phone. Took the salesman's name and told him I would come looking for him personally if it is gone when I get there!

Good morning vampirerat. I use the same system as you all the way down to the cable modem. I have no need for this software but you peaked my curiousity so I'll try it and let you know.

Archangel
=================================================
I'm back. After downloading and installation, I did the same as you and it didn't even try to look beyond my PC. (no firewall alert). So I double clicked one of the existing books in the wish list and then the firewall alerted. I then allowed it just once. Of course it found one already listed in the wish list. I then added my own and did the search but just like you, it ended with no results.

It needs some work. Sorry VampireRat.

Here is a paraphrase of my comments from the GAOTD software page for Libellus Book Organizer (July 24, 2007). I'd appreciate any help or hints on getting this thing to search the Internet and fill in book information.

EVERY Internet search I tried came up with an error message: "not well-formed (invalid token) at line 1" Well, THAT'S a LOT of HELP! I used single-word genres, multi-word titles, authors last names, and ISBN numbers. Nothing I tried seemed to produce results.

I downloaded the Help file from this page (It's not included with the program file.):
http://www.tantillus.com/index.html
The link to it in the right-hand column says "Manual."

The Manual says I will find a link on the Search button drop-down list called "Export to HTML ([2] on the picture below)." That's most certainly a sloppy production mistake. The picture (below) in the Help file shows the drop-down list with "Search the Internet" selected instead. "Export to HTML" is on a different button. Still, using "Search the Internet" and searching as described above, all I ever got was the error message: "not well-formed (invalid token) at line 1."

Please correct me if I am doing something wrong.

Ideally, I would like to be able to enter an ISBN # and have the program look up the book on the Internet and fill in the database for me, and apparently that is EXACTLY what the program is supposed to do! Too bad I cannot get it to work. BTW, I am using a Win XP (SP2) PC and a fast cable internet connection.
