Thoughts for the coming holiday period

This is exactly what has been on my heart and mind in the last few days.

The holidays are upon us and it can be a very joyful time of year.

Some of us have problems during the holidays and sometimes are overcome with great sadness when we think of or remember the loved ones who are no longer with us or too far.

And, many people have no one to spend these times with and are besieged by loneliness.

We all need caring and loving right now.

I ask my GOTD friends (and other good souls reading) wherever you might be, to share your thoughts here or on any other medium (like Facebook) to give a moment of support to all those who have family problems, health struggles, job issues, worries of any kind and just need to know that someone cares.

Do it for all, for nobody is immune.

I hope to see this posted on as many places as possible (by friends and strangers alike) just for moral support.

I received this from a friend elsewhere, added some of my own musings and re-posted it here, and I hope you also do the same.

I wish you a very Merry (whatever you celebrate) from my household to yours!

Also, if all of you can do just ONE kindness for another person (family, friend or complete stranger) in this holiday period (whatever holiday you celebrate), the world will at least vibrate a little more positively this year's end!

Think what just a coffee, a soup & a donut could do for a freezing starving lonely person and you will get the true meaning of the Holidays.

If you can do better than that, more power to you!

Thank you

That is just beautiful! Perspective and one's outlook on life is everything! Instead of complaining about what you don't have, be thankful for what you DO have! And thanks for sharing the site.. I've bookmarked it! It shows what life is really all about!

The following story was posted at http://www.helpothers.org/. It's a good example of how messages are perceived.

Two Signs, Different Results

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?"

The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way."

What he had written was: "Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it."

Both signs told people the boy was blind. While the first sign simply said the boy was blind, the second sign pointed the fortunate ones to their positive possibilities.

Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively. Invite the people towards good with wisdom.
