I wasn't sure about this program but found that you can disconnect any drive you want not just USB hardware. I have up to five HDD's running on all of my computers, dome of which are not used very often as they are just used for storage. This program enables me to turn them off thus saving wear and tear on the drives and saving a little money via reduced power requirements as well. :) All the developer needs to do now is add a decent skin to the program to give the GUI a professional looking finish. :)

FWIW this can happen when you run a setup from within a (de)compression program , if a previous version of the program you're about to install is still loaded into memory.... or if you clicked setup twice by mistake.

Hey I have an issue with the DB Gallery install. When running [as admin] the MySQL database install failed [was like 95% complete], then got an error message saying that it stopped responding, windows closed it. I tried running it again, but it says it's already installed. I tried to run DB Gallery, and it can't connect.

Edit:
DB Gallery gets an Access Denied error when it tries to connect

Paragon Drive copy is a useful way to transfer your system to a new hard drive. That way everything including your existing programs will be transferred. It was on GOTD as well, but I ended up buying it for my other computers after I found it was so useful.

Hi Mike,

The giveaway must be downloaded and installed on the day of the giveaway (within the 24 hour period from the start of the giveaway). As Graylox points out; if you miss the giveaway period you will then have to wait till it's rerun (assuming that it will rerun) or purchase the software. you can always try contacting the developer of software you'd really like to try explaining that you missed the giveaway. Some developers can be quite generous, but don't assume they are going to give you anything, or even reply to your emails.

If the original hard drive is still in situ and you are still using the same operating system, then you can transfer (but not reinstall) most of your giveaway programs over to any other hard drive. The only thing you will need to do is create new shortcuts from each program that you transfer. However, because you are not reinstalling, only copying, some programs will not continue to work because when they were originally reinstalled they created folders elsewhere on the hard drive (for example in the My Documents folder). What you aren't allowed to do (besides reinstall) is transfer registration details from one operating system to another.

Sorry, but there is no way to do that, except for a few portable programmes.
You can just copy these few programmes to your other drive.
As you are not new to the GOTD project, you should have read the FAQ already:
All the GOTD builds can be used to install and activate the software on giveaway date only. Thus to reinstall any product you will need to purchase it from the Developer.

If it's happening on both your computers it would indicate it has something to do with with an external source such as your modem or router. Have you tried re-booting these? Wen you turn the power off make sure you leave it for atlease 20 seconds to ensure any residual charge (usually stored in any capacitor on the modem and routers circuit boards) within the modem and router are dispersed.

This already happened to me 2 or 3 times:
When trying to install a Giveaway I am getting following error:
[quote]The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
I am still getting the "Activation Successful" message with the activation key. Nothing seems to have been installed on my PC. I tried to install on a second PC - same problem.
Incidentally, the 1st PC run on XP Professional, the 2nd on Vista.
Any suggestions?

Hi Jevena welcome to the GOTD forums !
Sadly the installation window for the Jewel Craft game is shut now.
Like the message says, GOTD software and games are only Giveaways of one day. That means, you can download the software on the given day and have to install and activate it on the same day. Then you can use it as long as your system lives, but you can not reinstall it. You can install it on that day on as many computers you have, but can not take it over to another system on another day.
But don't be sad, just have a look into the Freeware-Library

http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/freeware/

there you'll find a lot of giveaways for every day. Or - and you are on the best way to it - have a look-around in the forums. Here you find a overwhelming amount of FREEE games. This place is it's own hidden objects game, you never know in which thread you'll find a link to a game.
Most likely you will find one or two or even 500 games under this link:

Games Discussion
