WR, tried GLTron this morning, and though I was not very good at it, I got it set up and figured how to configure the options. I got better after playing for awhile, but then you posted the Tower Defense games and I have a weakness for TD...away I went:)))
So really all I want to say is thanks.

The reason I didn't originally add Armagetron Advanced to today's thread was because I thought it was a purely online multiplayer game, but I discovered that there is a single player element to the game included; (even though it doesn't mention it in the download blurb). For that reason alone I've added it to the pot even though somewhat late...... The game play is virtually the same as GLTron, but it has a lot more customizability than GLTron. You can play with up to four friends on a LAN party, which makes it a real scream if you have a LAN set up at home. If you don't, you can set up an internet server using this game, though I don't think you can password protect it, so any one who happens to be looking for a game can jump in. The amount of memory required to run a server is negligible, so most community members should be able to host if they wish. Ping is included in the information you get when logging on to the internet option, so you can choose a game that's going to run the smoothest. (For those not familiar with the term ping it's related to the amount of resistance on the line (impedance); the higher the ping, the more likely you are to run into problems running the game smoothly. It's a bit more technical than that, but my brains too tired to explain it properly at the moment; (see link below if you’re interested in a fuller and more correct explanation). There were ten active games when I logged on this evening, with some servers hosting up to 32 player slots. Now that would be a challenge. The fact that there were so many active servers all of which had more than a few players playing would indicate that the game is quite popular.

I apologize for the lateness of this posting; though as it's free all of the time, I'm sure there wont be many who miss it.

Armagetron:

Armagetron is a multiplayer game in 3d that attempts to emulate and expand on the light cycle sequence from the movie Tron. It's an old school arcade game slung into the 21st century. Highlights include a customizable playing arena, HUD, unique graphics, and AI bots. For the more advanced player there are new game modes and a wide variety of physics settings to tweak as well.

GL Tron:

Tuesday's game is a really simple but quite addictive game based on the 80’s classic TRON. It doesn’t have all the effects that you got from the film; in fact the game is pretty much devoid of effects, but it’s still really playable. One of those games you can pick up and play for five minutes in between those bigger and far more expensive games. ;)

Can you steer a light cycle and finish in 1st place?
The game is fairly simple, you race your light cycle at astounding speeds and try and create an inpregnable wall for your competitors to crash into before you hit the system's wall and die yourself.
How do you do this? Basically, you navigate through the system and keep close tabs on where your competition is via an overhead map. The trail you leave is made of light and acts like a wall for your competition to crash into. Make sure you miss their traps and try and set up your own for them to run into.
Based on the classic movie TRON!
Where did this game come from? Basically it was inspired by the cult classic TRON from the mid 80's. The developer took the premise of the movie and decided to make a game based on it. This little game is extremely addicting and the graphics are amazingly well done for a FREE game! Hop in your light cycle and let's take a spin!
