Well the higher they get, the harder they fall ................

Thank you hotdoge3 for these links, it has made me reflect on going to a "single" site for information especially if this site becomes (or always was?) biased in any way.

P.S.: After following your link to smokeys wordpress security blog, I found this follow-up to the article:
http://smokeys.wordpress.com/2009/05/03/matousecs-new-moves-to-recapture-the-label-trustworthy/

After reading that one, I can say that the nail has just gone a little deeper for Matousec!

Best Regards

Apparently enough people think that Windows 7 has got something right though. One site that I look at for statistics says that Windows 7 has almost caught up with Vista already.

I have it and I like it quite a bit. I always liked XP and never did care for Vista myself. The only disclaimer is that I am not much of a computer techie and my opinions on computer related things are usually suspect at best. ;)

The Home edition is OK,but if I ever have some money to burn... I'd go for 7Ultimate.

lol I wasn't trying to put down old people. I was just saying many seem to be happy with what they have and don't care about how crappy it is. My grandmom's computer has XP and I hate it but it doesn't bother her one bit. Many people put down Vista but I find it to be no trouble at all. And if I had the extra money I would upgrade to 7 without hesitation!

What's more a lotta companies still cling to XP ..so even if 7 appears to be a dream to you Ilta...they must have a perfectly good reason not to upgrade (yet).

@ilta, if this 15 year old OS works.. and isn't 'broke' I don't want to 'fix' it with 'new improved'! At least after all this time they've had the chance to work all the bugs out! Oftentimes the new things are NOT as good as the reliable older things, so I'm staying out of the deep end of the pool! Millenium was awful, then vista, so I think a lot of us are gun shy about switching to anything new! And, look at all the GOTD offers that won't work on Vista!

It's good news for *me*, as I actually prefer XP even to 7. Out of my entire family, I am the one most up and up on computers, and thus the go-to 'guy' when something goes wrong. I said that to say this; out of my entire family, I am also the only one not enamoured with 7. Something I could easily do with XP I screwed up with 7, simply because the format is different. I can't get the hang of saving things to a documents file, i.e. My son keeps all his passwords on his jump drive. I was saving a new one to the drive for him, and accidentally deleted all of them, simply because of the difference between saving things to docs in XP and 7.

I run XP also. For me to upgrade to Windows 7 I would have to upgrade my machine (I refuse to go to Vista). I could get 7 cheap I am sure since I have a relative that works for MS but upgrading the machine isn't cheap. Maybe when I can spare a few hundred dollars I might go for a refurbished machine from Geeks.com. I've never bought anything from them refurbished but I have heard good things so I might be willing to take the risk.
