Just a note.. after reading through some of them and looking at screen shots. I think I will use the Recipe Center 5.2 first. It seem to do all the things (or near enough) I want and it is free. Though, the AccuChef does sound nice as well, but as I said 'cheap bones' run deep. I will keep that in mind if I do decide to buy one. Thanks again to all!

ibwebb

@Buzz: WOW! You'll be set for... well forever cooking all those! lol

As always.. WOW and thank you for all the help. I have lots to look through and honestly only a few that I had looked at before. I went to download.com for Roberts Recipe Center 5 because my WOT went off on that downloadcenter website and I have found it best to trust it. It wasn't until I read the other post that I had opened both version to look at when I was done. LOL . Thank you Happy as well. I of course will look at the free ones first.. I have a deep running cheap bone in my body.. but will look at what those offer as well.

You all have been great (again) in helping me out. I just hope that sometime I can return the favor!

ibwebb

p.s. perhaps if any of you are looking for a good recipe I could help you out! lol. Tomorrow I am going to start my own 'starter' so I can make my own California Sourdough French Bread! I am kinda excited about it!

@Wizz: I have looked into that one. Not to sound all paranoid, but all your recipes are stored on their server and their agreement says they have rights to them. The Food Network has one that is like that too. I liked that one, but was told the same about theirs. I have to admit that one does have a lot of what I like, but with my recipes I am protective of some of them and don't want to take a chance. I have a few recipes that my great grandmother brought with her when she (and my great grandfather) fled Austria-Hungry in the beginning of WW2 and from my father's side that have been passed from (so the family word goes) members of our family in the civil war. Each when given I had to promise to keep in the family and I have. Though I am typically against such.. I think if you have a great recipe then sharing it is a wonderful thing so all can enjoy it.. but I gave my word on some and have to keep it. Anywho, I will keep that one in mind if no better comes about and thank you very much.

how about an online service? http://www.allrecipes.com let's you keep a recipe box of recipes that you enjoyed. You also have the option of creating your own recipes and uploading them for the world to try. If you wanted to pass along that recipe, just give them the link =) It's able to convert from US to Metric, and even re-calculates the amount of each ingredient based on servings. If it calls for 4 and you need 6, just type in 6 and it will adjust the recipe for you. I love this site and use it ALL the time.

Hello All,
Before my injury that left me disabled I was a cooking fool! LOL. I love to cook and the more I can cook for the happier I am. Anyway, I have collected a good number of recipes on pieces of paper, index cards, books, post-it notes, napkins, etc (I think you are getting the message). I really wanted to get them in order, but each time I sit to start getting them organized it turns into a huge task that never finishes.

As you can imagine; I thought a recipe software would be the answer. I would prefer free, but even if it was a few dollars for a really good one I would be willing to invest in it. I have searched and found a few, but any reviews are mixed (if any exist) and a lot seem to be dependent on a web site (some recipe site). I don't think that my 'wants' are too extreme. I would like them to be easy to read/use, support standard and metric measurements, printable, NOT stored/shared on some website automatically (I have a few family recipe's that I've been sworn to keep so), but would be nice if someone I knew wanted a copy it could be sent to them (<- not a breaker).

I would appreciate any thoughts, opinions, or suggestions. Especially if anyone has used one and has some input. Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,
ibwebb
