Domain owners will be able to certify themselves under the DNS Security Extensions system to ensure that a web page is from the stated provider, and eliminate many popular attacks.

Bonjour ou Bonsoir, Robert
Ohhh là là, ces bestiolles DLL... They are not my friends, don't know them!! ;-)
Yeahh, it is strange! Sorry, can't help u there!

Hummh, don't understand what u mean here:
-Also the 'All files downloaded to.. 'is empty.
Where/What is this window?

=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=
Me on the other hand, have 2 other problems:
1-Can't manage to update one FF to 2.0.0.12, after successfully updating it on all the other computers.
Makes *NO* sense!!!
I'm going to have to back up everything, un-install & re-install. Have no idea what else to do. Aggravating!
2-Can't see, therefore can not access the bottom part of the window Tools>Main Tab.
Under where it says "System Default": it's covered as if the window is to small for all the text it needs to display. Go figure!! Read it could be caused by Font size, but haven't been able resolve it yet. Played around w settings many times, still nothing!!

If anybody has a solution for #2, plizze tell me!! Thanks

Au revoir :-D

Salut LeKanaw

The Ctrl+J command does work but for some *odd* reason the downloaded files are not listed.
Also the 'All files downloaded to.. 'is empty.
The pop-up window when the download is finished doesn't display either

Seems to me some dll is(are) missing or corrupt.

I guess I have to live with this :-)
Strange.

Isn't the window *supposed* to be empty now?
Since it's a new FF, I mean.
Does the *Ctl+J* command works?

Also don't forget to go to Options > Content > Manage (File Content)
And also to Options > Advanced > Update tab

Hi there Robert, glad it worked :-D
You'll probably have to do more of that check/uncheck/check, bc I think your FF is a bit *confused* ;-)
Since u are re-installing, maybe u should revise all the tabs in Options, see if everything is copacetic.

My FF is so customized, I got afraid what would happen if I lost it. I'd certainly lose my mind!!!!

So not only do I back up the usual BM/Profile, but I also started a log w all settings & modifications: about:config / Add-Ons / Extensions / S.Engines / Dicos / etc.
Any time I do any modification I also change my log.
Also, I've installed DumpList so I can export it to my external w my BM & Profile.
I also use Foxmarks which backs up everyday. Nice to have access to the BMs anywhere :-)

À propos de Foxmarks: I never import *from* Foxmarks, only export TO. And will use import only as a last resort!
I'm a very visual person, so all my BMs have icons, either their own or assigned by me.
There is an extension that helps w that.
For some reason I'll recognize & remember a cie/site icon, not the name...
The problem w Foxmarks is, it ignores icons completely :-(
That's why when I move my BMs folder to my other PCs, I do it manually by importing from my external.
Yeahhh I know, you can see I'm a bit paranoid about my FF...

On the shared PCs I created different profiles so when I use them I feel at "home" w *my* FF and Hubby has his own too.

Any info u need about FF, don't hesitate.
À Bientôt =ô.ô=

You have to set up Mr Tech's Local Install to archive the extensions and/or themes by giving it the location you want to store them.

Go to Tools > Add Ons > Mr Tech's Local Install > Options

Click the General Tab

Click the Archive Tab, set the path using the browse button and then check the box marked Auto Archive.

These settings will only start storing the extensions you add AFTER you've installed Mr Tech's so if you've already installed a few extensions you have to manually back them up and add them to the folder. The nice thing is after it is set up properly it saves a copy of each XPI file and each subsequent updated version of the XPI files to the folder. So if you get a rotten extension 'update' you can just install the old one again.

For keeping backups FEBE is somewhat unreliable...
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/reviews/display/2109

...and it has been my experience that the extension can use stability problems with the browser.

MozBackup is a good option.

Personally, I have found the most reliable method of backing up (and later restoring) is to keep an extra copies of the whole profile folder on an external storage device.

Also, Mr Tech's Local Install is great for archiving extensions to disk because you never know when an extension will 'disappear' from the internet.

If you have a lot of bookmarks and you might consider del.icio.us or Google bookmarks as a way to keep and backup bookmarks. I've found that I often store more URLs than I ever go back and look at, so del.icio.us is the option I use. Also, del.icio.us has an export feature for creating a personal backup via export. I am not as familiar with Google bookmarks.

Thanks all for responding to this thread!
Somehow it gives you a warm feeling. :)

And I guess this *is* my lucky day.
My recent bookmarks were still in the firefox profile folder-bookmarksbackups.

Systemrestore was tempting, but checking this out, I saw some nice GAOTD would vanish too.

I wonder:
I did configure an automated daily backup ,as BuBBy suggested, but does Febe still do a backup when the scheduled time has passed?

Have a nice day.

And once again, thanks.

Firefox keeps several backup copies of your bookmarks in your firefox profile folder (as a last resort) or if you were running foxmarks - you can login there and force a synchronise copy to overwrite your local bookmarks with a copy of your foxmarks copy.

http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/firefox/bookmarks.htm#lostbookmarks

I would also suggest using the extension "FEBE" to automate the backup of your firefox profile each day to another location (or hard drive) - as a precaution (it takes less than 5 minutes to set up - much longer to recover from the mess if you don't).

Also "MozBackup" is useful for backing up Firefox or Thunderbird profiles.

Hope that helps.

Firefox stores the bookmarks in the default profile. If you are using windows xp you can find the bookmark file here:

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\

Just look for the file labeled bookmarks.html

***The xxxxxxxx will be a series of letters and numbers unique to your profile.

Then, once you've reinstalled Firefox you can just import the HTML file using the built in Bookmarks Manager.

They (Mozilla) always make their updates quietly available on the server a day or two before officially announcing them. Perhaps hoping for a last minute feedback in case some bugs managed to escape the beta and RC testers.
