Google rules out Gmail and Drive apps for Windows 8

Google has revealed that it has no plans to develop dedicated apps for Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8 for its business app products such as Gmail or Drive.

Instead Bavor said the firm was committed to continually improving and updating its iOS and Android products.

The Windows and Mac OS X desktop clients for Google's Drive file storage and synchronisation service open a backdoor to users' Google accounts which could allow the curious to access a Drive user's email, contacts and calendar entries.
The sync tool includes a "Visit Google Drive on the web" link which opens Drive's web interface in the default browser and automatically logs the user in. Somewhat problematic is the fact that this session can then be used to switch to other Google services such as GMail and Google Calendar.

WHY SHOULD I ERASE THESE FILES?
1) Besides the glaring privacy risks.
2) Besides the fact that Microsoft is keeping these logs intentionally. (For reasons I can only imagine.)
3) These files can take up huge amounts of disk space. I've personally inspected a computer with almost 200 megs of this stuff, so you can imagine how much this can slow your computer down. After following these instructions you will probably notice a great improvement in performance.

I actually got rid of a HD a while ago and used a hammer. The deformed platters not concentric anymore should be fine I think. (hope, anyway)

Unfortunatly,this side of the pond,we're not allowed the tools to use the method that sounds the most fun.
Cutting torches sounds good though,molten metal spraying everywhere is nice and colourful.
My preferred method is undoubtably hammer and anvil,just like being back at work.....

betcha bullets, blowtorch *or* thermite would be pretty darned certain of removing all sensitive data quite permanently.

resale or reuse value of the drive would suffer, but secure, it should be.

using a torch for data erasure without proper safety gear and procedures can also be quite an adrenaline rush, too. Right exciting, oh, my, yes.

personally I prefer [not, mind you, as certain a guarantee of complete impossibility of *any* data recovery- though after multiple overwrites it's reasonably good] is to strip off the board, then take an errant drive to my out-in-the-woods range and put 30 rounds of 9mm from my Browning BDM and 300 rounds of .22 Long Rifle from my Ruger 10-22's through it at various angles. minimum.

Just use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to make a backup to cd rom and then when your ready use it to transfer your saved items to your new drive in your new computer.

Start > Program > Accessories > System Tools > Files and Settings Transfer Wizard

I am buying a new computer. It will have XP not Vista. I have downloaded numerous software titles in the last 2 months. I have downloaded them to my external drive. My question is: When I setup my new computer, will I still have access to the software on my external drive. Or, will I need the registry values from my old internal drive for the software to work? Could be your graphics card. When I start the program I get a prompt to enter my "game name" for profile purposes. Then I get the screen your talking about. But I have a baby and some other graphical stuff happening in the background behind the menu.

I would try re-downloading the file to make sure it's not a corrupt download, and try installing again. If it doesn't work something else is going on. It sounds like your graphics to me. Maybe it's not to the specs the game calls for. Or maybe not the most current drivers for your card/board.

Try to go your card's/computer main site and download the most current for your card (or motherboard if integrated graphics). The disc that comes with drivers for your card will get you up and running when first installed but there may be updates for critical issues. This would be the case if you had graphics integrated through the MoBo instead of a seperate card as well.

Hi can anyone help, I've loaded up this game installed it ok but I just can't get anything to happen, the screen is blank and then words (Play, Options, Exit) flash on and off sometimes one of them sometimes all of them but nothing happens when I try to press any of them
