I've not checked out the entrants yet, but if they are up to RevX's standard, then we're gonna have a nice looking logo. I'm going to check the contestants work just as soon as I've sorted out tomorrows free games.

I'd have to say that RevX's icon looks pretty cool in full size, gets my vote. 8-)

for those who're not sure about Steam, or installing it. I felt the same way when I was sort of forced to install it to play a game I'd bought via fileplanet. in fact there were two games, called Defense Grid: The Awakening and Galaxy Bowling. I hadn't a clue about Steam up till the moment I installed the first of those 2 games. I was rather annoyed at first and even wrote to Valve because I thought it an affront to have had to install the Steam client just so that i could play the games.

Anyway, to cut a short story even shorter; within a few weeks I bought Half Lifes 2's Orange Box and found that it also used the steam client. It was at this point that I discovered the Steam shop, which is accessible via one of the tabs in the Steam browser. They had a weekend deal which I thought was an amazing bargain; all five games are some of the better indie games that have been released over the last few years. It comprised of five arcade games called Gravitron 2, Eet's, I-Fluid, Multiwinia and Tials 2: Second edition. The total cost of that package at the moment (if you were to buy them seperately is $40, though I got it via Steam for only $10. Every week they have at least one and often several recently released and some classics on offer for as much as 75% off the retail price.

I bought Men of War last weekend for just over $10. The usual price is nearly $40. The previous week I bought all three of the Brothers in Arms trilogy (A brilliant squad based game that requires tactics to be able to progress through the levels)for less than $20. I paid around $145 for all three titles over the last three years (I bought duplicates so that my son could play with me online). Need I say more.

I've come to really like Steam over the months, not only because of the amazing bargains (I've bought nearly 130 games at a massive saving via Steam since I downloaded the client back in January of this year), but also because all my games are automatically updated when patches and minor updates are released, plus it gives access to my friends {much like a gamespy or comrade client does}, while I'm online. I talk to Wizzard and G@rgoyle regularily via the IM that's incorporated into the steam client.

As I said, as long as it has something to do with Giveaway of the Day, you can include whatever your heart desires...just no copy-written images. Steam has the ability to add your own games that you may have that they sell on their program. I've added all my Half-Life games, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Lost Planet, Unreal Tournament 3, Prey, Painkiller, and MLB Front Office Manager this way. They only offer a few free games and that is only if you have an Nvidia or ATI graphics card. However, they have stellar weekend deals.

And can you include elements from other sources? (see bad example above).
