"Most beta programs will expire at the end of each beta version - there is no point testing the old version. Typically only once the full version is released will there be a non-expiring version available.

General Disclaimer: Beta software is still "under development" - there will be bugs, errors and the potential for data loss. Beta software isn't a freebie to play with - but it's like testing the strength of a bridge while under construction, by driving your car over it. "

True, beta software sometimes can be very buggy.

http://www.answers.com/topic/windows-defender

I don't think the Windows Defender works with 2000 anymore. I think you must have at least Windows XP or Vista installed.

I really don't think Counterspy is that good. The best antispyware imo is Webroot Spysweeper (it sadly isn't free).

Question Bubby do they have an expiration date in Adaware 2007 Beta? I signed up for the beta like yesterday and am wondering if it is only a 30 day trial?

I am also a Counterspy beta tester and well I couldn't stand how slow that program made my computer so I took it off for now, but what they do is they give you keys that will eventually expire in like 30 days (not sure if that is the exact days, but they do expire and you will eventually need a new one)

http://beta.sunbelt-software.com/viewtopic.php?t=2512 (for anyone who wants to join).

Here's instructions http://beta.sunbelt-software.com/viewtopic.php?t=4120

to join the beta if you're interested.

Even plus is just as good. (I'm already registered).

The big difference between the free version and all of the paid versions is the inclusion of the "ad-watch" monitoring program that basically does a real-time ad-aware check - and can prevent browser hijacks, tracking cookies, process blocking and filtering based on custom rule sets.

The difference between plus and pro really isn't that much apart from price.

If it was going to be a give away - best wait for the new 2007 releease which is currently in Beta.
