I don't know if this was the case before, Wabbit, but the link on the author's page eventually takes you to Sourceforge for the download. Perhaps the author has changed things around or perhaps you've been snacking on too many Trix and so are not tricky enough. :-0

Yes they are definitely amongst the better games available. I really like the Caiman's site. It's well thought out and there are hundreds of great games to choose from. It's probably the best one I know of.

Not sure about ever getting to the top of a leader board though. Never been competitive enough, lol.

The game is still under development and is Linux compatible. Thank you for the alternate links brody. I suspect the author's site may have problems with bandwidth as I downloaded just fine this morning and last night. I did forget to mention to everyone that the game keeps a record of your "scores" based on experience and accomplishments in the game and has a leaderboard. Perhaps we'll see a whiterabbit on top of the leaderboard sometime in the future?

I'm glad you've liked this week's games rabbit, I was stoked when I found these because I consider them to be above average games, definitely towards the top for freeware games. Hopefully I'll be able to find some equally stellar games for my next week. =D

By the way Wizzard, you've posted some marvellous free games this week. Nice one man. :) Thumbs up all the way.

Been playing the Caiman version of Ardentryst and have really enjoyed it. The visuals and music are pretty retro, which is what I like about it, plus the RPG aspect as well. :)

Thanks for the extra links badboybrody as I'm still unable to download from the authors site. It's definitely the same game. The middle image shows the icon I thought looked vaguely similar to Oblivions symbol. The developer must have ported it over to Linux. This may be an earlier version though as it looks like its been recently updated. I think the game is still under dvelopment.

Thanks Wizzard; definitely my type of game. :)

edit, can't download it for some reason. I can get to the page that says download, but then it goes to the can't connect page. I'll try later as this looks interesting. The icon he uses looks vaguly like Oblivions ico but with a sword crossing it.

Today's game is an RPG titled Ardentryst. Ardentryst is a great little fantasy based RPG. I highly recommend this one for any RPG fans out there.

Ardentryst is an action/RPG sidescoller, focused not just on fighting, but on story, and character development. Strategy as well as reflexes will be needed to overcome the game. The game is set in another world. It is somewhat a cross between Donkey Kong Country, Mario, Castlevania and Kingdom Hearts. Ardentryst is focused on a fantasy world. The player is guided through a storyline which he or her must act in and play a major role in keeping peace and order in Ardentryst. It features two playable characters and a variety of weapons, items, armour, monsters, and beautiful level scenery and graphics.

Controls:
C = Confirm
Arrows = Move, jump
C = Attack
C,X = Lunge
D = Focus magic
D,S = Fire
and so on, because while playing you will learn more attack technics ;)

Please do yourselves a favor and check this game out. I've included a video, a whole wikipedia page dedicated to this game, and screenshots can be found on the download link. 9/10 for me.
