Yeah, I never dreamed $200 apps would EVER be offered, -untill they were the other day!
Well now that they've 'upped-the -anti', h*ll I say lets go for it & ask for what we want! Why not? Couldn't hurt,you never know; -maybe some higher-ups wouldn't mind dishing out some of their older SW.-[or discontinued or less popular]- I'd be thrilled w/ older vers. of SW by: 'ADOBE',=[PHOTOSHOP CS-2, ILLUSTRATOR CS2, PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS-4, InDesign CS[2],..];
~AND~
'COREL/JASC' =[COREL DRAW, PAINT SHOP PRO, COREL PAINTER, ULEAD PHOTOIMPACT-11, ]...

They do state on their site:"our goal is to give away every good piece of software, sooner or later." ! ,,,,,--'SOONER' sounds GOOD to Me !!!! :D

Yes - Giving away windows Vista under the terms of GOTD would be .... interesting.

No support from Microsoft... no Windows Update security patches or bug fixes... not Eligible for Service Pack 1 (when released).

I'm not sure I'd want to run Vista or any OS under those conditions.

I don't think the price puts it in the "no" list. I've been coming here for some time now, and there has been software over the $100 mark several times. Flash Spring 2.0 a couple days ago had a listed price of $199. (But personally I thought that was a typo for $19.90). I'm sure GOTD has no problem giving anything away. It's the developer's who have to agree to the terms of the site I guess.

It doesn't hurt to request certain software. :) I have seen requests pop up in the list for giveaway.

I've noticed that sometimes software is given away just before the update to that software. So basically you get a registered copy of the old version because you don't get any updates. Still the program works fine. It's just the old version. As long as it works and does what I need it to do... I'm good. Sometimes software falls into that catagory and becomes elligible for giveaway. So I wouldn't count ANYTHING out. BUT I wouldn't hold my breath for "Windows Vista" being given away either.. ;)

It may not be so unreasonable as ConceptDraw MINDMAP 4 had a retail price of 119.00 dollars...
yes I have most of the fractal related free ware the is worth anything or works well.
my favoraites-- fractal Explorer (will animate some but not all paramaters and the author has put the project asside for the time being, and Apaphosys,which also animates fractals well.

But Uf animates all the paramaters and does layering and transparency.
Still I dream on....

Full version of Art Rage would be nice.

But to continue the dream;.......-They did give away a $50 app. once [I couldn't believe it!], so MAYBE,.......????!........they'll give away the $60 standard one!?

Anyway; have u researched? There are some COOL FRACTAL FREEWARE apps. out there!!-[I think there's one that animates.[?]
