Glad to hear you got them working.

Personally of the three Arcamania is my favorite, but then I'm an arkanoid junkie. It's a really wacky arkanoid, with some strange sound effects, that I do remember some thought spoiled the game. 'I' think they add to it. There are some brilliant level designs, and many are very difficult. The levels are not like some arkanoid games where you can whizz throug a level in a matter of a minute or two. Some of the levels can take five mintes or more. I've still never finished any of the three Arcamania games I've got (the first two have to be purchased) To anyone who considers buying either Arcamania 1 or 2, I'd go for Arcamania 2 despite the free retro game having similar power ups and level sets, because the first one uses codes for saving your progress, which is a real pain. If you don't mind that then it may be worth buying the first because it is a lot different when compared with Arcamania 2 Retro. Because I'm apalling at keepinf decent records of the level codes, I tend to play several levels, then lose the codes so have had to start again and again and again etc etc; whereas Arcamania 2 saves without codes. :)

You can get either of the two shareware versions from 300AD:

My apologies...After runnng download, all I get is a screen with links for features/specs/credits/instructions/registration. I had to go into my Program Files and start games from there. Created shortcuts from Program Files, dragged to desktop and I am good to go. Thanks much! Must be my day for non-starters because I keep getting error and close of game giveaway today, as well... Thanks again for links, V.

That's strang vhtg, I had no problems downloading the free games. I can't think what's wrong? What exactly are you doing. I don't see any buttons for registering these games.

The links themselves are not download links, they are links to the pages where you will find a download link. Clicking on the download link brings up the usual download dialogue box. I've just re-downloaded all three games and each one works as it should. All I can suggest (after you've tried again) is for me to upload the executables to filefront for you, but I've got too many other things to do at the moment. I'm beta testing two games, one of which has to be completed by tomorrow if I am to earn a free full version key. I'll check back in a couple of days. Let me know if things work out. Thanks.

regards

Stephen

With the thought that a lot of the more well known game developer/distributors are giving away arcade games I thought I'd check out 300AD, and found that they have three games to give away.

You can download them from the links below. I've copied the descriptions from the site rather than write my own short reviews, so the credit for the descriptions go to 300AD (apart from a few spelling mistakes and outright grammatical errors. One of the Arcamania games (Arcamania 1) was given away last year. I can highly recommend the free version.

Crystal Cave Christmas Treasure:

http://www.300ad.com/crystal_cave_christmass_treasure.php

Search for long-lost treasures in pitch black caves, pyramids and dark tombs of ancient temples in this wonderfull puzzle game!

Huge gemstones were sheltered from the sunshine for eons of time waiting for those who are brave. You as an intrepid tomb seeker must resolve puzzles of pharaohs, aztecs, fight kings and show courage in many adventures to get them all.

Crystal Cave is a supreme family-fun puzzle game. Collect all crystals from ancient lost tombs. Challenge your brain!

Crystal Cave Christmass Treasure is a freeware clone of the game Crystal Cave Gold. The game contains 26 levels and 10 train levels (from Crystal Cave), with lots of logical riddles as well as action elements. Use boulders, different types of rocks and teleports to get gems and to escape from monsters. Great fun for the whole family!

System Requirements:

- PC 400 MHz+
- 32MB RAM
- DirectX

Hint's page:

http://www.300ad.com/crystal_cave_hints.php

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arcamania 2 Retro:

http://www.300ad.com/arcamania2_retro.php

ArcaMania 2 is a brick-busting classic Arcanoid clone in OpeGL with hi-color graphics, effects, sounds and monsters.

Arcamania 2 offers everything players liked on awarded first sequel of the game: great playability, graphics, level design plus over 100 new and even more challenging levels
divided into 3 scenarios with unique graphics, enemies and bricks each with geyser of color, with palettes blended onto the bricks

Lots of new visual effects (auras, smokes, flares, sparks, etc.)

More action with rotating brick rows, exploding bricks, bumpers and other improvements of gameplay

30 bonuses (many new ones since AM1, such as the shooting bonus)

Advanced aiming with pad just like in AM1

Tons of little but significant improvements in comparison with first part of the game

NO MORE PASSWORDS (this was a bug bear in the first game which stopped me from ever completeing it)

AM2 offers 4 player slots, so your brickbusting campaign is saved automaticaly as you progress through levels. No more annoying passwords.

AM2 saves score to file, that can be sent to our site. This will add you to Arcamania top player list.

Now negative bonuses (like "reverse controls" and "short pad") increase your score significantly, (if you take them!) This helps to distinguish a real hardcore player from green ones and makes the difference in their rank. (lol)

System Requirements:

- PC 200 MHz+
- 64MB RAM
- 3D Video Card 8 MB with OpenGL support

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Westbang:

http://www.300ad.com/westbang.php

This is a remake of an old 8-bit game of ZX-Spectrum and other older computers, but it has a lot of new graphic and visual and sound effects.

Animated movie like introduction.

25 missions with the story of a noname man who became a legend. Try your skills in campaign, from an easy beginning to a total carnage in final fight for 500 000$, that the biggest railway company stored in the bank for the wages for their workmen.

Meet over 20 characters and see if you can face hordes of cheap street roughnecks or lone but damn quick profi killers.

Watch the smashing intro that will remind you the atmosphere of an old western movies and listen to a cool music score.

As a special bonus you will get:

A Secret level made for men who have a cruel sense of humour ;-)

Cheats..
Full description of data files, that will help you to modify everything in the game or add as many levels as you wish, if you find our campaign too short or easy for you. Do you want to shoot some of your friend? Nothing is easier, just scan their photos and make them desperado's in WESTBANG.

System Requirements:

- PC 200 MHz+
- 64MB RAM
- 3D Video Card 8 MB with OpenGL support
