It was not all that long ago when in the “Suggestions For Future Giveaway’s Sticky” I wrote if Danusoft Digital Media Converter was nominated again by GAOTD, I would be dancing barefoot in the street with glee. I didn’t expect that would happen any time soon, but much to my surprise here it is today. The trouble with that is where I live the streets are covered with snow, nonetheless, never let it be said the Renegade is a welsher. Now if you excuse me I can see the Rescue truck coming down my street to extricate my feet off the frozen pavement. :)

While NIS2009 is really, really good (they have worked out a lot of the resource hogging and other problems they have had in the past), it is not "the best". You cannot really define what is "the best" AV because there is no anti virus that will give you perfect results. Not to mention if you have been using Norton since 95...=O. Norton has only recently improved their game imo.

NOD32, infact, is one of the best. It is light on resources and is fairly good on picking up problems.

My list of top 4 not in any particular order:
NIS 2009 (NAV 09 is also an alternative if you do not want the full suite...but IS > AV!)
Avira Premium (or get the free Avira version + some antispyware if you dun wanna pay!)
NOD32
Kaspersky 2009 (IS or AV)

I know I said that you cannot say any one AV is "the best", but if I was forced to choose, I would definitely go Avira Premium over the rest.

Nod32 isn't the best.

The gest av is the one loaded with all the definitions to find a trojan, virus, malware etc.

Thats why NAV 2009 is the dogs you know what.

NIS2009 is the best since windows 95 version.

Nod32.

This is honestly the best antivirus out there. I doubt it will be available as a giveaway but I would appreciate it if the GAOTD tried to get. It's not as well know as Norton or McAffe but it kicks some serious ass!

http://www.eset.com/products/nod32.php

Hi guys. I can pretty much say I check back here just about every single day for the last year and a half. I guess that says something about how much free time I have, but it also says I see almost every kind of software that you guys get for us. So, seeing as how I have seen many EXPENSIVE giveaways, and lots of FLASH and powerpoint utilities. So how about an EXPENSIVE FLASH utility? SWFKit. It's a great program for making standalone applications out of SWF flash movies (and MOST online flash games are SWF movies). This program sells for $799. Can we get a taste of it?
